I don't think it has anything to do with a savefolder since it does it with a savefile and in RAM as well.
Not sure if relevant but do the issues persist after a second reboot?
In my case, first reboot over an existing savefolder/file (standard slacko 5.9.3) had issues from starting X to shutting down and evrything in bettween. But on the second reboot after relayering the filesystem, everything was fine.

Doesn't seem to matter what I try. RAM, reboots, savedir, savefile etc... Tried from USB flash and on a different comp, same thing. Incidentally, Tahrpup does it as well, for me anyway.

01micko wrote:As for the scanner issue , do you know what kernel driver is used? Is there any command line output?
I think I figured it out to a certain extent. There is something fishy about the way Slacko 5.9.3 loads, or better: does not load, SCSI drivers.

My test scenario:
- Scanner plugged and powered
- Boot a pristine Slacko 5.9.3
- Start PeasyScan => "No scanner detected!"

Reason: PeasyScan runs scanimage -L to create a list of installed scanners but finds none

Code: Select all

# scanimage -L
No scanners were identified ...
Output of command sane-find-scanner:

Code: Select all

# sane-find-scanner
found USB scanner (vendor=0x05da, product=0x009a) at libusb:003:002
Same as above with Slacko 5.7 lets start PeasyScan without problems.

Output of scanimage -L:

Code: Select all

# scanimage -L
device `microtek2:/dev/sg4' is a Microtek Phantom 636cx / C6 flatbed scanner
Output of command sane-find-scanner:

Code: Select all

# sane-find-scanner
found SCSI scanner " Scanner 600A4 1.10" at /dev/sg4
found USB scanner (vendor=0x05da, product=0x009a) at libusb:003:002
For now I found a way to use my USB scanner in Slacko 5.9.3, but it's a bit troublesome. I have to run

Code: Select all

modprobe sg
which loads the kernel module sg and everything is fine:

Output of System > PupScan > Kernel modules > sg

There's an issue where not all of the kernel modules are loading properly - I have the same problem with printing from a parallel port printer and have to manually modprobe lp and ppdev. It's been known about for a while but I'm not sure if there's a solution yet.

This version of Slacko has most modules in a zdrive (a separate SFS file), an approach which had caused major problems before in some versions of Luci and was dropped before the relevant Lupu was released. That was a few years back and I can't remember the specifics now.

Have you tried appending the command to '/etc/rc.d/rc.local'?

Ok I compiled the latest/last version Of Gnome-paint, and what a shame that they've given up and a abandoned this project, I hope someone forks it in the future. Its basically almost what I've been looking for, A few features haven't been implemented as of yet. But the layout is great, the sizes is awesome.
Ok what doesn't work, fonts, fuzzy/free select, and zoom, what does it need to be a perfect puppy paint program?
layers, and a couple of small effects, like shadows, colour balance, crop, resize etc.

Here's a small card game,
Fun GTK card game Belote is a popular 32-card trick-taking game played in France. It derived around 1920, probably via Clobyosh, from Klaverjassen, a game played since at least the 1600s in the Netherlands. Closely related games are played throughout the world.

Hi Ttuuxxx,

Thanks for providing the card game. I'll check it tonight, since we play a lot of "klaverjassen" with friends. Never knew there was a similar game. There are many card games, but they centre around bridge, poker, and solitaire.

btw...Yes, I am Dutch....

Works great, nice to see a GTK card game that doesn't use large gnome deps, the cards are xpm files, so it wouldn't be hard to make another card set for them off larger gnome card game images. I might do it later on depending on/if people like it.
I played like ten games before packaging it up, Its pretty hard to win, but still fun to play.

I remember playing a game on my first computer called Klabiash, which was available for Windows 3.x and worked very well. This one looks very similar.

When installing supertux2 from PPM It wouldn't run still needed to install openal even though PPM showed openal-soft was installed !
I chose to install openal-1.13.pet to solve this however a symlink to openal-soft may be a better approach :?

You can always add more layers to get more colors. That is what I did with mtpaint anyhow. Any more than 256 makes it difficult to get to the colors anyhow.

X crashes when using Gnumeric

Slacko 5.7 and 5.9.3 use the same Gnumeric version (1.10.17), so the problem must be with the new Slacko. Can somebody confirm?

To reproduce:
1) Type anything into a cell and press Enter
2) Select this cell and press Ctrl+C (to copy)
3) Select another cell and press Crl+V (to paste)

This may already crash X, latest when selecting another cell X crashes. Typing xwin will restart X, but changes made in Gnumeric are lost.

Copy & Paste via context menu works normal.

Hi.

I'm currently examining the Slacko 5.9.3 and found some issues.

1.) using pkeys as boot parameter and boot is failing (puppy sfs not found)
2.) using plang as boot parameter and boot is failing (puppy sfs not found)
3.) can't connect to the internet using my GPRS Mobile USB-Modem (it is detected and ready for use - as the messages say; menus are updated but nothing else happens after this; no menu entries, no option to connect - works always in Lucid and Precise)

RSH

P.S.

Booting pkeys and plang tested in combination and as single used options - failed all the way. Failed also using 'fr' (french). Other languages not tested.

Looks fine here, alone or in combination. Few lang tested (including french - pic).

Anything special in your setup? The only relevant change I can find is this relating to VFAT booting devices, but this is also in slacko-5.7 :?
