Palemoon-26.4.0 is out. I hope it will not soon updated. I have crafted palemoon-26.4.0-p4-glibc219tweak.pet which is intended only for puppy4 and wary: do not install in more recent puppies where the official tar.bz2 release works fine. Enjoy.

Above is a link to Palemoon 27 Beta. Important: This is only a Beta version and it will not work with the Palemoon Installer / Updater. Works with Xerus64 and RUXerus64 and will probably work with other 64bit Puppies. It puts a desktop icon in the lower left corner of your screen, so if you already have an icon there you may want to move it.
Also, it's a Beta and not a final so there's sure to be some flaws, though I haven't really seen any. Much nicer than 26.5 in my opinion.

PS: When you first click on the desktop icon, just choose to make it your default. It will not change your system default. It will just stop that annoying question the next time you click the desktop icon.
OH, and the top right has customized searches. This one includes the Puppy Search Plug-In which was done really nicely. I'm sorry, someone on this board created but I forgot who. Still, a very nice addition!!!

Palemoon-27.0.0 is released.
I've uploaded an sfs of palemoon-27.0.0 to SourceForge
however on my desktop running kernel 4.8.10 with Xorg-1.19.0 it completely trashes my nvidia / nouveau display - i.e. screen goes black and says no signal!!
with Xorg-1.18.4 it seems OK....

palemoon-27.0.0-p4-glibc219tweak.pet:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9iMb4 ... sp=sharing
It continues to work in puppy 4.31. Glib-2.22.2-p4 from puppy4 rep is required for flashplayer 24 beta. The above package can work in other puppies with glibc<2.15 in order to use the new flashplayer 24 beta Npapi.
Enable the default english language pack before using with an existing profile: some adds-on can not work with the new release and the new languages packs are not ready.

Labbe5 posted about an important security issue about Mozilla that also affects Pale Moon

That is misinformation you have there. Pale Moon is/was not affected by this vulnerability. Source: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.ph ... ff640bd89bperdido wrote:Labbe5 posted about an important security issue about Mozilla that also affects Pale Moon

Problem with the Palemoon-updater
I have posted about this in the Tahr64 Thread
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 815#934815
Does this occur in other pups?

Problem with Google Maps
In Tahr64 on a T400 Thinkpad, using Pale Moon, googlemaps opens in Lite mode and the lightning icon that should give the option to go to standard mode is completely unresponsive. By comparison, Seamonkey in Lucid Sulu2, on my much older and less capable HP desktop always opens googlemaps in standard mode, which works fine.
Google says that Maps defaults to Lite for older browsers. As my Pale Moon version is 27.0.1 (x64), there seems to be a problem with Pale Moon rather than Tahr?

Re: Problem with Google Maps
It's not an issue with PM, it's Google and UA sniffing to blame. UA sniffing a really awful practice to begin with and Google should've really known better, but they don't. If google actually would use a feature detection system, then standard google maps should load by default..Snail wrote:In Tahr64 on a T400 Thinkpad, using Pale Moon, googlemaps opens in Lite mode and the lightning icon that should give the option to go to standard mode is completely unresponsive. Re: Problem with Google Maps
Hi bark_bark_bark
Yes, I suspected that might be the case. Google claims that only IE, Chrome or Firefox should be used. It's hard to imagine them being so stupidly lazy after all these years. Or is part of a long-term plan to eliminate any browsers that may interfere with them selling us all to the advertisers?
Seamonkey for Lucid works fine though. Presumably it either fakes a User Agent that is acceptable to Google, or the Seamonkey devs have negotiated with Google. Cannot Pale Moon be made to work by the same means? Since Seamonkey and Pale Moon are both kissing cousins to Firefox, it must be possible surely?
I can google and find how to spoof the UA in Pale Moon and try that but, in the interest of my fellow noobs, may I humbly request that any fix be made to work OOTB in future?

Re: Problem with Google Maps
The best place to ask about this in the Pale Moon forums. The devs are very responsive.Snail wrote:Hi bark_bark_bark

User Agent spoofing and palemoon documentation
As a result of Google playing nasty with Pale Moon, it is necessary to spoof the User Agent string. Unfortunately, all the information about doing this in the Pale Moon documentation pages and forum is out of date, being relevant to version 26, or earlier. The 27.x versions are significantly different and I am not confident in making the more advanced changes, with just the out-of date documentation available.
One thing that I did try was to go Edit -> Preferences -> General tab -> Compatibility(User Agent Mode) and try the different options. None of the three options available allowed me to use GoogleMaps in anything except Lite mode. The three options being: Native; Gecko Compatibility (The default); and Firefox Compatibility.
It seems that the Pale Moon project is seriously short of documentation writers and perhaps developers as well. Hopefully this will get better, as Pale Moon looks to be just a little nicer to use than SeaMonkey and heaps nicer than the Chrome and Chrome influenced browser UI's.
