EDIT:

Slacko packages:
These will appear as 'New Moon'. In accordance with the licence official branding is disabled:

32 bit for slacko-5.9.3
https://01micko.com/packages/palemoon-2 ... k600_1.pet 24MB
cd8f4d51aba112d7521cafdb55fee862 palemoon-25.6.0-i686_slk600_1.pet

64 bit for slacko64-5.9.1
https://01micko.com/packages/palemoon-2 ... k600_1.pet 25MB
2d7464cf265612d6862b1af7f471efe1 palemoon-25.6.0-x86_64_slk600_1.pet

These pets have the home page modified with the puppy 'jumping off page' and the default page for a new tab is the Palemoon (New Moon) start page (has the search box) which I find is much better than the default 'about:icon' page.
Hi Mick

pwsget can't be used to download - seems to be a permission restriction on your /packages directory?

does download with web browser....

Code: Select all

wget --no-check-certificate https://01micko.com/packages/palemoon-25.6.0-x86_64_slk600_1.pet
Happens since I enabled https. So really it's a bug in pwsget.

Need help here -- my quickpet does not list pale moon even after updating. I tried quickpet version 3.5.1 (?), but that didn't help and it appeared to actually be an older version than i have (1.6.7). I cannot update pale moon manually or automatically within pale moon, at least i cannot find the updater, not in preferences nor in the "about" menu. I can't find the latest version of pale moon in a pet form, and i don't think downloading it from the pale moon site will automaticaly put it in the correct directories. (I am running tahr puppy 5 and pale moon came pre-loaded.) (kernel 3.14.20)

Any help to update pale moon appreciated. I have always been able to run a certain a flash-based site but i cannot today. I can't determine if it's my browser and/or outdated flash or if it's the website. Mind you, i don't LIKE this flash-based site but i am stuck using it for now.

THANK YOU!

tahrpup has a palemoon updater in menu>>internet

i would uninstall any quickpet.pet you installed first .... tahrpup has its own quickpet that get updated as needed when you click the update button.

Oh, i am SO embarrassed!

Thanks for the quick reply. Am i to assume the "tahrpup updates" button in QuickPet updates everything, including QuickPet?" And why do i occasionally get a "Happy Puppy" message in a pop-up? (Not trying to go off-topic here, been using Puppy for years on and off but recently been using Tahr-Pup full time at work. The more i get into it, the more impressed i am overall....and still finding things i need to learn.)

Thanks to this thread I gave Pale Moon another try.
I downloaded and installed the version optimized for Atom. (there are three pc's in this house, all three silent Atom boxes.)

Here's how I tested:

Installed Pale Moon in /mnt/home, where Firefox is also residing.
Both FF and PM are set up to delete all history and cookies when closed down. They both have the exact same add-ons.

I opened Firefox on my default home page (a local html file) and ran Htop: ram usage kept hovering between 295 and 315MB (of 4000MB available).

Closed Firefox and opened Palemoon on the same homepage: ram usage stabilized at 195-197MB.

I'm convinced. 8)

that might be to do with menu>>system>>pschedule i think it's a demonstration of how it works. you may have played with it and forgot to delete the task .... open it up and delete the task

Unfortunately, this updater now (again) tells me that the latest version number could not be retrieved.

Found the solution:
It is necessary to do a tahrpup update in QuickPet.

Thank you very much and kind regards,

Hi DAC324:

The issue there is that's not how an updater is supposed to work. I like Palemoon but it is very overrated in our community. I suggest Iron or other Chromium based browser, at least as a 2ndery browser.

Kind regards,

Slavvo67

Don't update it, simply,

update should work easily as i did for me.
Sure, you can change the browser, but Palemoon is really a good choice. Don't update it, simply, would be a way to do, awaiting to find errors

Hi Pelo:

For me, the updater froze a certain version and did not update to newer. It continued to read I had the latest version though newer versions had since been published.

I'm trying to install palemoon for Warry 5.5. Warry does not come with Dbus. Barry Created a DBus pet:
http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=01895

but I think this pet is too old for the newest version of palemoon.

I downloaded the run anywhere version of palemoon from the palemoon website. When I type ./palemoon from within the directory I get

Code: Select all

No such file or directory libdbus-1.so.3.
Barry's pet comes with:

Code: Select all

libdbus-glib-1.so.2.1.0
So perhaps I'll try to create a newer dbus pet for warry 5.5 unless someone has done so already.

On youtube.com, I now get "Oops, your web browser is no longer supported." (in PM26 and FF28) but of course after hitting "No Thanks" to downloading Chrome, videos work. Google trickery, should be considered an "advertisement" in pop-up blockers.
