CsipeszPup

#61 Post by butchydave »

Very nice full featured Pup. Piles of programs. Thank you very much. One of my favorite Pups for daily use! Do I understand your next Pup will be a Tahr Pup? If so, I am very much looking forward to it. This has to be one of the fastest Pups I have ever used for shutdown. Thank you very much again! :D

Thank you, butchydave.
Not, I gave up dealing with the tahr retro - it was too tough nut to crack for me... Not so much mouldable, than a precise retro.
I do not have time rather to it.

for Ally

#65 Post by csipesz »

Dear Ally! I gave a thought to it, i ask it already now: you are angry at me becouse of something, that you do not put my CsipeszPup V8 on the Internet Archive?
This, which i did once(for people speaking in English), is the best one though.
Or: are You the trouble that something is missing from his description possibly?
I wait for your answer, with respect,
Csipesz

Oh, Ally, the transitional pieces not important, only the v8, that possible most perfect one dared.
The Hungarian version interests the Hungarians only, they may attain it from the renewed Hungarian forum.
(skami linux, you know :) )

I have Precise 5.7.1 installed frugally on my PC along with Lupu 520.
I have some video movies I had downloaded from YouTube using the GTK Youtube Viewer.
The videos were in mp4 format and they play just fine with mplayer in Lupu 520.
But when I try to view them in Precise, a smaller window appears and only the audio plays.
The md5 sums were correct on the downloaded ISO files and I have did nothing strange in Precise 5.7.1.

So any ideas why I am only getting audio with the files and no video?

I don't know, what may cause this... the basis media player the vlc, and I never had troubles like this till now with him.
Right, i download it, with a youtube downloader plugin of the seamonkey browser, in 360, mp4 quality.
I may say only this much for you.

I was trying to play the mp4 videos with mplayer and upon opening the preferences selection under Edit, I noticed the video interface was set to "mv". I changed that to "x11" and upon restarting the video, I then had the video displayed.
So I can mark this as solved.
I still do not know why the video interface selection was set to "mv" though.

apropos, 8 bit - you know this? Is big a bit, but very good:

http://www.solidfiles.com/d/74692ae273/ ... 2-i686.pet

and a dependency, if not want starting the stuff:

http://www.solidfiles.com/d/fa5a83561a/ ... 1_i386.deb

but if you like it, you will need in gtk youtubeviewer preferences the "mplayer" word replacing to "gmplayer"!

OTHER: dear people!
Who liked the warcraft 2 anno, is here then a warcraft2 BNE slim version! I find it a russian website.
This is a 83 Mb NO CD version for playing on wine:

http://www.solidfiles.com/d/9c760c5335/Warcraft2.exe

this exe a self-extracting rar exe - i checked the content by clamav antivirus app.
bye!

Hi for everybody.
CsipeszPup's 16th revision released.
Only with an English-Hungarian language,
his appearance the from me usual openbox/lxpanel.
there is an alternative window manager in him: fluxbox.
With much little correction, some new applications.
Bluetooth there is a support already in him although this is not perfect because he works in only 1 direction correctly: from a telephone onto a computer...

Fantastic Csipesz. Packed with everything you need, all ready to go.

Frugally installed to hard disk and using grub4dos to boot. Set to boot to pup mode 13 so I can optionally save or not (event manager save session set to 0)

Not so keen on the left/top/right panels taking up screen space so removed those. Other than that just a few tweaks for my particular screen resolution and everything is working really well.

Installed the Skype pet from here and that seems to be working OK.

I installed frugal to hard disk.

It works well. Here's my observations so far.

I found 2 windows XP apps that will work with Wine.

Lucky Backup ---> http://luckybackup.sourceforge.net/download.html
mp3DirectCut ---> http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html
For editing mp3 files directly.

There are some right click utilities that I installed

Pfindplus-1.0 ---> http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=110596

This adds a search to a hard disk .

pupmd5sum 1.4 ---> http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=84019

I set up my wacom tablet.
The xorg driver is already installed by default

However I had to make the operating system recognize the driver
by using the old method of

Code: Select all

depmod
modprobe wacom
Also changing the xorg.conf file
(the path is /etc/X11/xorg.conf )

You must now modify this new xorg.conf file with a text editor.

Here's my 'Server Layout' for a Bamboo tablet

Code: Select all

Section "ServerLayout"
    # For non-LCD tablets only
    # Only a few TabletPCs support this type
   # For Intuos3/CintiqV5/Graphire4/Bamboo tablets
    Identifier "X.org Configured"
    Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
    InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
    InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
    InputDevice "stylus" "SendCoreEvents"
    InputDevice "eraser" "SendCoreEvents"
    InputDevice "cursor" "SendCoreEvents"
    InputDevice "touch" "SendCoreEvents"
    InputDevice "pad"
EndSection
and then after the definitions of mouse and keyboard
I inserted

Code: Select all

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "stylus"
    Driver "wacom"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/wacom" # USB ONLY
    Option "Type" "stylus"
Option "USB" "on" # USB ONLY
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "eraser"
    Driver "wacom"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/wacom" # USB ONLY
    Option "Type" "eraser"
Option "USB" "on" # USB ONLY
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "cursor"
    Driver "wacom"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/wacom" # USB ONLY
    Option "Type" "cursor"
Option "USB" "on" # USB ONLY
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "pad"
    Driver "wacom"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/wacom" # USB ONLY
    Option "Type" "pad"
Option "USB" "on" # USB ONLY
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "touch"
    Driver "wacom"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/wacom" # USB ONLY
    Option "Type" "touch"
Option "USB" "on" # USB ONLY
EndSection
Then restart X

The pen is now properly recognized, however GIMP needs to be setup for input device.

pfind is buggy in the openbox Window manager .

You can try bulldog finder as a replacement

@csipesz, I tried booting the ISO file in a qemu virtual machine, but it failed with this message

Code: Select all

SeaBIOS (version...)
iPXE ...
Booting from DVD/CD
ISOLINUX 3.73 ...: Image checksum error, sorry...
Boot failed: press a key to retry...
This is the md5 checksum
c13d3e1b52549e3c7b71bbcde693657b precise-5.7.1Retro-CsipeszPup-Rev16EngHun2017May.iso
Is it correct?
Do you know if your ISO can boot in a qemu virtual machine?
Thank you
