freetype and fontconfig are also updated, maybe that's why conky takes more space, something might have changed there.
Didn't notice any change in fonts in gtk apps.
The spacing is different, in the screenshot conky is wider than it was.
Notice the bird's tail with the old and the new conky.

I found a backup of Dpup 485 that I'd made in May of 2011 and copied
it to a SDHC card, ran grub4dos, and booted it up on my compaq desktop.

Sun 27 Apr 2014 Operating System: Lenny Puppy-485 Linux 2.6.30.5
0.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200] (rev 01)
oem: ATI RADEON 9200
X Server: Xorg Driver: radeon
X.Org version: 1.4.2
dimensions: 1920x1080 pixels (521x293 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
Core 0: 2800 1: 2800 MHz

It has seamonkey which updated to version 2.6.1
I was hoping the ppm still worked but it didn't, guess the lenny repos
are dead.
Anyhow, it's Dpup 485 is working well on this pc, the scale canvas in
mtpaint worked too :)

Seems like all of your hardware is dpup-centric these days xD
Lenny repos where fixed in dpup 486 but I removed them from 487 cause those debs are now too old for current system, still haven't tried to update to wheezy repos myself.
Heck, we'll compile new packages I don't think this is compatible with any debian anymore :P
I still use some older packages though, gl1-mesa dri deb from lenny repo works for radeon and I have currently these sfs's for load:

Gimp-2.8.10
jre-1.7.0.55
amarok-1.4.10 (I made amarok sfs from lenny repos back on puppy 4.x I think, before woof)
Nexuiz-2.4.2 (older but works faster on my machine, I believe from lenny repos too, sfs is 323 Mb)

EDIT: oldyeller, after frugal install, apply update1 delta (script on page 3)

Thanks, that's what I was looking for in the older Dpup.

I added qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.8.2-i686.pet,qt-everywhere-opensource-src_DEV-4.8.2-i686.pet,
smtube-2.1-i686.pet, and smplayer-14.3.0-i686.pet from Dpup 487 and they work fine, I can upload these if you'd like them.

Why not, we can build a repo of packages that are known to work, btw regarding players - I have always used this vlc pet:
vlc-1.0.5-lite-i486-dpup.pet 2.8 MB only
It's cli-only, run it with "cvlc" it seems that it works with most formats.
Also, this one that I packaged for squeeze pup with qt deps seems to work (mouse controls in fullscreen don't though)
qvlc+deps-1.1.3-squeeze.pet about 13 MB

I sent you a pm with the download links, I included fotowall as well which needs qt.

I think you'll need to make a sfs of them because installing qvlc+deps-1.1.3-squeeze.pet will break smplayer (and the other way round too most likely).

Anyways, looking forward to nexuiz :)

EDIT:
I googled nexuiz 2.4.2 and found nexuiz-242.zip at sourceforge.net,
downloaded and unpacked it to a directory.
It works fine in Dpup 487 on my compaq desktop, it may take me a long
time to hit level 7 but I'll keep trying :)

Oh, didn't see the edit, try this sfs anyway I found it runs way better then precompiled one :)
And yes, that level is so much fun. Maybe we can setup puppy deatmatch 8) I doubt there are any 2.4 public servers left though
Anyway here's sfs for others: nexuiz_2.4.2-1_i386_487.sfs 323 MB
md5sum: d4560b313e7c1ea7008aa62c4e83369d nexuiz_2.4.2-1_i386_487.sfs

If you don't use propietary graphic drivers you'll need gl1-mesa-dri and possibly SDL-1.2.9.pet
Love this sdl pet, it's old but still works with most games.

Thanks for uploading the nexuiz sfs, it does run much better than the
precompiled version on my compaq desktop.
I'm going to make several backups of it :)

Just tried the qt pet and apps I downloaded.
Love the smtube browser and fotowall is great, love it!
I'll definitely mirror them.

EDIT: Previous vlc pet I mentioned without qt deps included: qvlc-1.1.3-squeeze.pet about 4.5 MB
Works with your qt alongside smplayer, see last screenie

qt pet that Billtoo shared and apps mirrored here:

qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.8.2-i686.pet As SFS: qt-everywhere-opensource-4.8.2-i686_487.sfs
smplayer-14.3.0-i686.pet
smtube-2.1-i686.pet
enricoros-fotowall-ffc6ce1-i686.pet

main qt pet/sfs is biggest, about 44 MB
Lots of cool apps to play with in dpup already :D

I made pets of Midnight Commander file manager and it's Slang dependency.
Both pets are needed for Midnight Commander to work.

The download link for Midnight Commander is:

Removed

The download link for Slang is:

Chromium gives a warning when the links are accessed today jul21

Nice, last night on IRC someone was telling me about doublecmd
It needs freepascal/lazarus to compile but precompiled binaries run too.
It launches pmount at startup when probing drives though which is a bit annoying...

One note, it appears the PPM seems to blog the system down when downloading updates. You may want to include fewer repositories by default.

Just a thought.

Best,

Glad it works for you.
Yes, I know about ppm it's mentioned, will work on alternative debget script when i get time.

Here are few more apps I compiled for 487, dropbear ssh server/client and ufraw-batch command-line for converting raw photos (works with image magick's convert tool from 486 pets)
I tested dropbear only through lan between laptop and desktop

dropbear-2014.63-i486-dpup487.pet 275 KB
ufraw-0.19.2-i486-dpup487.pet 569 KB
