WttrinGui 1.1 - Weather forecasting

#1 Post by Argolance »

History:
 labbe5's thread, which draw attention to the way of searching weather forecasting for any location using command line
 Médor's thread, especially to look at the work/scripts of musher0/vovchik.

WttrinGui features:
  • - An icon in the system tray lets user run/exit the application (left click), set parameters and have access to useful links (right click).
    - A search box (located by default at the upper left corner of the screen but configurable) allows to enter a search term to view weather forecasting and switch either in full screen mode or window mode. The terms entered are stored in a drop-down list that also gives access to the Moon phase as well as the on line help in the use and selection of valid search terms.
    - An history html file of any location forecasting is possibly created.
    - Available in English (native) and in French.
For best visual result, I put urxvt 9.22 and a recent Yad version (otherwise some characters/icons are not displayed correctly).
Specific forecasting translations themselves are nevertheless still to correct, complete.

Cordialement.

Dear Argolance,

Thanks. Nicely done. I still think terminal output is ugly, all the more that everything else is pretty. I think bcm would make everything look better and avoid all the terminal configuration stuff (as an option?). Just a thought.

With kind regards,
vovchik

Hello,
Thanks!
@vovchik
I looked at your great work and, I guess that, objectively and for many users, it is surely much more pretty! But the "challenge", as the title of the original thread is telling it, was 'in console'. I admit I like this "old" style and musher0 would not disagree with me on that... and also the possibility to run WttrinGui in the background, as a sort of wallpaper...

Cordialement.

Hello again, Argolance.

Let's remember this is NOT a competition. To outside eyes, it may look that way, but
it is not. In the early stages, we all contributed to the research and exchanged ideas.

Simply said: the user now has a wider choice and will choose the weather presentation
or approach best suited to his or her needs.

BFN.

Bonsoir,
Let's remember this is NOT a competition.
Who ever forgot it? NOT a competition, for sure, just a simple game I personally like(d) to play for fun and as well and happily as possible :D

Cordialement.
