SMplayer-14.9.0-i686 And SMtube-14.8.0-i686 Subject description: Media player and Youtube viewer/downloader |
|
Website http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/
SMplayer-14.9.0-i686 And SMtube-14.8.0-i686
Smplayer and Smtube both compiled with static Qt 4.8.5, the pets are larger but does not require Qt anymore. All was compiled in Precise 5.6.1 may work in other Puppies.
For Precise 5.5 , 5.6.1 , 5.7.1 and Slacko 5.7.0
smplayer-14.9.0-s-i686.pet Download
smtube-14.8.0-s-i686.pet Download Requires ca-certificates_20140223_all.pet Download
For Tahrpup 6.0 - 6.0.1 SMplayer and SMtube are compile with shared Qt instead or static to save space because tahrpup has Qt 4.8.6 builtin
smplayer-14.9.0-i686.pet Download Requires mplayer-2015-01-26-i686.pet Download
smtube-14.8.0-i686.pet Download Requires ca-certificates_20140223_all.pet Download
My Precise 5.6.1 repo http://www.mediafire.com/folder/cc4nimp92ba71/Precise_5.6.1

Hi Scabz
You've been some milliseconds ahead of me...
Today I was informed by smplayer, that the actual smplayer-version has jumped from 0.86 to 14.3. A real quantum leap. But so far I haven seen so much progress in the program.
Concerning compatibility smplayer on Slacko needs libaudio1 and libaudio2 files. They have to be installed prior to a successful usage on slacko.
Have a nice day

Hi.
SMPlayer tested only.
- runs out of the box in precise 5.7.1
- when online it opens up defaultbrowser and goes to SMPlayer Web Site (it's annoying, so I range this as a minus)
- after adding a file/directory it starts playing imediately
- it stoppes after the first song is played and skips all other songs
- it will not play any more songs after this
- needed to remove the SMPlayer settings in /root/.config to be able to play again a song
I did need some time to realize I need to change the audio output from pulse to alsa.
After this change it plays a complete play list without any problems.

I did not notice any of this cuzz i allways set up my audio and video before testing apps, i use vdpau and this is the best video player for nvidia hardware with vdpau support.

works OOTB on precise 5.5. thanks yet again. (mirrored it and the smtube pet.)...
edit: lost audio...
i just removed and installed a handful of things, which could be the reason...
edit: the simple fix was cntrl+p > audio tab > change from pulse to alsa.
cool program--like the best of vlc plus the best of umplayer.
thanks again, scabz.

Hi
I found a strange behavior on my system which does not depend on the source of SMplayer: If a video is played in the background and a rox-window is open in the foreground and moved (or a firefox-windows is open and moved), than the sound of the video drops out for some milliseconds.
It occurs with gmplayer too, so it looks like to be an issue of my build-in mplayer of slacko. I investigated a couple of different builds. The shortest dropout could be obtained with mplayer2.
Did you observe the same phenomenon ?
As a comparison VLC is not affected by window-movements in the foreground.

has never happen to me but i am on precise 5.6.1
One thing to try is to switch from alsa audio to oss or if using oss then switch to alsa

Hi Scabz
Thank you for your help but after having analyzed this issue a bit more in detail it cannot be solved simply by using a different sound system.
When reporting this issue I have overlooked that the video itselfs stops if you move a window in the foreground, not only the sound stops.
Summarized again: If a video is played in the background and you move a window in the foreground then the video stops until you release the mouse botton. VLC does not show this.
It is independent of
- the video codec used to play the movie (mpeg4, mpeg2)
- the puppy operation system (occurs with precise 5.71 and slacko 5.70)
- the used frontend (occurs with gmplayer and smplayer)
- the used sound system (alsa, sdl, ...)
- the used mplayer (builtin mplayer, mplayer2)
- the size of the Cache
- whether vdpau is used or not
By the way, I didn't manage to watch DVB-S2-TV channels. DVB-S work ok.
I will have a deeper look in VLC.
Thanks again.

Tested now with Mplayer2 over Slacko 5.7 (official one exits with an error about Qt). Thanks for this version, built-in Gnome Player is a bit silly.
The only issue, dependencies. You should download each from PPM once Mplayer2 is installed... and Mplayer2 should be downloaded separately because is no longer available from that (i picked a Slackware 14.1 compatible package from pkgs.org).

SMplayer Tahrpup (hebrew ???) |

Installed SMplayer fails reading any video already recorded.
I suppose some libs are missing in this LXpup. I check further...

well to me looks like your mplayer needs ass for subs, it is not a problem with smplayer. smplayer is just a frontend for mplayer, you issue is with mplayer needing libass for subs.
you can compile mplayer without the need for ass or install ass. you can also install another mplayer.
mplayer in precise 5.6.1 doesnt need ass.
lol sounds like a joke but you need ASS
