wmreboot not working

#1 Post by fixit »

A script with wmreboot no longer works correctly.

It goes to a konsole that looks like this.

Code: Select all

puppypc316.. login:root
login[26...] I root
login on 'tty1'
How can I fix this ?

Well you said "a script with.."

Are you speaking about the wmreboot script itself?

Is this on the setup where you were deleting *important* files?

Sounds like you broke something..

Maybe you've got a LOCK file somewhere?

I think you have a cruel streak.

My system doesn't have a wmreboot script.

I made my own reboot and shutdown scripts with some neat icons.

I did my 235 th re-install of Puppy. :-)

For some reason, my image backup program failed for the first time on 2 different images. ??

I am assuming wmreboot is a script to reboot the windows manager.
If that is the case, why do you not just use menu-shutdown-Restart JWM?
You can take this a step further by selecting menu-shutdown-Restart X Server.

If you are talking about something entirely different excuse my confusion.

You are not confused.

I could use Shutdown Manager which gives 5 choices of shutdown, reboot, etc.

But, in order to learn everything I can about Puppy Slacko, I choose to write scripts for individual items which saves a couple of clicks.

Plus I can find some cool icons for those desktop items. :-)

Take care.

So you say you've got rid of wmreboot, then written a script that does nothing but call 'wmreboot'? Now if wmreboot had been removed, either nothing will happen at all, or you get an error message about the missing file.

Maybe the first 'i' in your username should be changed to a 'u'

 Search was fast. Slacko 5.7. Couldn't imagine 5.6 not having wmreboot..

wmreboot should be in /usr/bin

It is a specific Puppy script that needs to be there.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)
