What makes a version of Puppy an official version?

#1 Post by bigpup »

Barry K. stating:
"I am retiring from the central role".
"others are now taking the reins."

To me indicates someone else is going to make decisions about Puppy.

AT present or in the future, how is a Puppy version given the identity of an official version?

Seems to me the people working directly on Woof-CE should have direct control of giving a Puppy version official title and support.

Example:
Slacko64
Is Slacko64 now the official 64 bit version of Puppy?
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

You seem to infer that Barry K's retirement from active development equates to an end to his involvement in any way with Puppy Linux. That's one interpretation. Another could be that he retired from active development but is still in charge overall.

No one seems to really know what involvement Barry K. still has in Puppy.

I get from the tone of these and other statements, Barry K. wants the Puppy community to take over Puppy.

I posted this, because it seems to me, the Puppy community may need to start making some decisions about Puppy.

The Puppy community seems to be fully in control and deciding on what goes into Woof-CE.

Woof-CE being used to build a Puppy version seems to me to have a lot of control over Puppy.

Just trying to get the Puppy community to voice their opinions and maybe work something out for the future of Puppy.

Something as simple as deciding if a Puppy version, made with Woof-CE, is an official Puppy version or not.
Barry K. seemed to always decide what Puppy version was official.
I am not sure now.
