#3 Post by neerajkolte »

Hi I have installed this pet in my fatdog64-630 final.

I can start testdisk from terminal but couldn't start or find fotorec. Could you please tell how to launch it.
Thanks...

Edit: My bad sorry. just using wrong spelling photorec (not fotorec).

Working

Hi neerajkolte,

Just type photorec into the terminal.

First step select the disk.Hit enter

Second step; Use right arrow key to move to File Opt in the menu at the bottom of the screen. Hit Enter. Press s to disable all file families Use up down arrow keys to scroll through the selections, use space to select the file extensions you are trying to recover. Then press b to save settings then press Enter

Third step; select partiton then use left arrow key to move the menu at the bottom to Search, Hit Enter.

On the next screen select the file system type of the disk you want to recover files from. Hit Enter

On the next screen select where to save the files, then press c. After that photorec will start to recover files. This may take awhile, so go to have a cup of coffee while pretending to work :)
