They are:

/usr/local/pup_event/pup_event_frontend_d.bac
/usr/local/pup_event/pup_event_ipc.bac

If you right click them in rox they should have a date stamp of March 2014 (or close to it).

If they are not there, or the date stamp is too old, then they may be in the quirky build system.

Can you post them here please?

TIA.
I found these if they're any good to you.

Thanks for that.

Strange, there is no difference in the pup_event_frontend_d.bac. Anyway, they are supposed to bugfixed for latest BaCon so I'll see how or if they build. see <-- http://bkhome.org/news/?viewDetailed=00071

I just found another pup_event_ipc.bac-2.gz (renamed it) that is larger that the first one that I posted.

After all that, I had to patch frontend_d myself. It wouldn't build with Bacon-2.4, does now, but not in Bacon-3.0 (May 2014 release).

EDIT: so I patched both now and they do build with BaCon-3.0. Something isn't right though so I posted to BaCon forum.

Quirky Unicorn 6.2 released
http://bkhome.org/news/

Hey Barry, what's up ? By the way, did you get my emails, I had no answers yet. And isn't it a beta version ?

Jasper

#742 Post by Jasper »

Hi BarryK et al,

I installed Quirky Unicorn 6.2 to a Flash Stick using Method D and all seems well.

Whilst the latest version of SeaMonkey (v 2.30) is included - the "usual" update option under Help seems to be absent - so I'd appreciate advice on how to install the next update.

Thank you BarryK.

My regards

Another great release!

Running from a slow 16 GB usb 2.00 key, but everything flies..
Writing from a non-english Firefox 33.0.1, installed in /opt.

Even Firefox seems faster than the same FF in Precise 5.7.2.
But that could be because it's still virginal...

One thing I noticed: Clicking the 'eye' in Rox filemanager, to show all files and folders, does not work like it used to:

Image

In fact, it does not work at all.
Is it me not understanding a new approach or is it a little bug?

Thank you very much Barry!

EDIT: forget my "hidden file problem"! Rox opens /file by default in Quirky and not /root. We Belgians are not the brightest, but we're brave

sha1 and md5 are different. Technically speaking md5 is less secure than sha1.

For those who don't speak Latin as fluently as linuxcbon and I, here's a rough translation of Julius Caesar's idea about the Belgians:
Of all these, they are the bravest, because they are absent from the culture and civilization of the Province, and merchants least frequently resort to them, and import those things which tend to effeminate the mind;
How true.

Yes I know but I didn't read carefully, I blindly typed what was written in documentation http://ftp.nluug.nl/os/Linux/distr/quir ... .htm
Verify download.Open a terminal window where you have downloaded the files, and execute this:
# sha1sum *
...check against contents of sha1sums.txt
I just checked and md5sum works ...I shouldn't blindly follow documentations... :?

I installed and booted from an usb stick, following method A with fsf.
Oh the color mint green is horrible , (my taste is different I know).
Starting seamonkey for the first time takes a long time. But starting the OS seems quite fast.
In dmesg I got

Code: Select all

[ 6.576207] udevd[5006]: failed to execute '/lib/udev/mtp-probe' 'mtp-probe /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.2/usb1/1-5 1 2': No such file or directory
/tmp/xerrs.log gives

Code: Select all

JWM: warning: /root/.jwm/jwmrc-theme[10]: invalid tag in Active: Corner
JWM: warning: /root/.jwm/jwmrc-theme[16]: invalid tag in Inactive: Corner
There is even a ping to google.com :?

softmaker replaces abiword and asks for a key, didnt try this yet.
Same for calc, gnumeric is replaced.
Clicking the desktop "file" icon makes ROX go to /file/ , but usually I think it goes to /root/ ?
Clicking the chat icon, what program is it ? It asks name and password... qutim ? I dont know it...

It's not you, the green IS horrible, it is fatiguing for the eyes...but hey, it's spring in Oz :D Themes and colors are easily changed.

There is even a ping to google.com :?
WHAT? Google.com? Will we ever learn?

That's a design decision. Very dificult situation: Abiword, although perfect for short editing, is not ready for real life, but Gnumeric easily wins the spreadsheet contest.

Clicking the desktop "file" icon makes ROX go to /file/ , but usually I think it goes to /root/ ?
Ha, glad I'm not the only one confused..If I remember correctly, Barry wanted to address the security problem when all important stuff resides in /root.

I'll have a small horn of barley brew now

Thanks, that will be in the 6.2.1 Service Pack.

linuxcbon, regarding those <corner> tags, that was supported in an earlier version of JWM. JWM now just ignores them, but posts a warning.
