gperiodic dotpup - periodic table of the elements

#1 Post by Rhino »

OK, here is my first dotpup. It is a simple GTK Periodic Table of the elements for us Chemistry folks out there. It is 117K. It installs to /usr/local and seems to work OK. Let me know what I need to do (if anything) to improve it or if it does not work correctly how to fix it. Thanks.

One thing that might improve it is if I could download it.

Perhaps you forgot to click the "Add Attachment" button before submitting? I've done that several times

I'm still trying to get it to upload...it tells me I have reached the maximum file size limit, however it is only 117K. Any ideas?

Apart from the upload thing (that is to do with the forum - not your fault) how easy was it? Did you use the MU's excellent program? Did you add your masterpiece to the wiki?

- hey you are a Puppy developer . . . :)

I used MU's excellent dotpup maker script and it wasn't very hard. I had to make it a couple of times to get it in the right folder with the right name, but no real problems. I will add it to the wiki.

Nice one, Rhino. I prefer gperiodic - fast and informative. The others don't show MPT & BPt, nor first IP, so not a lot of use.

Hi Rhino,

Thank you for your dotpup "gperiodic" which runs fine.
Do you know a software for drawing organic molecules which could run under Puppy?
I've tried to run BKchem and Chemtool without success. I've also tried BKchem for windows (with wine) but also without success.

gw,

I wasn't sure what you meant by your "no success" comment about chemtool. In any case, here is a truly rough dotpup I threw together: http://www.kpunet.net/~jackp/chemtool1.6.9.pup 346k.

Click on chemtool to run the program after installing the dotpup.
