Here is the reason you got the hexagonal effect circles. Open any rox window and right click on blank space then select options > Pinboard > Pinboard Behaviour > select 'fine' yours is 'coarse'. I hope you set fine as default for the new iso too!

No, Stemsee, I will not.
I do not make any configuration changes whithout good testing what can go wrong after that for other applications. Rox "coarse" is the default setup after installing rox-filer. Nicons should adapt to DD and rox, not the opposite. My advice to you was to take your time and make well working nicons for DD. You decided to post final version for deb package two hours after that. It is what it is. Accept it and move on.

Hi, Fred.

I'm ready with new Jwm iso and locales module. I will wait for you for the official upload and post in the thread.

Hi Toni, Fred et al,

I've just done a blunt, manual install of UExtract pet on my DD - a wonderful app, that adds a right-click option to Rox with support of a zillion archive formats. Curious, if it can be added to the ISO (or debbed & repoed)?

Hi, Anikin.

Included - no (it has non-free dependencies).
Debbed and repoed - maybe it will be possible after finding all debian dependencies, but are you sure you want to install all this missing packages in your minimal version after installing such uextract.deb?
Code:
root@debian:~# uextract -d

UExtract v3.7 by SFR'2013-2015; GNU GPL v2 applies

Hi Toni,

I don't think I will ever need all the supported formats and their dependencies. OK, I will take this one upon myself and add only the deps, for the formats, that I need. I like this app and will keep it. Forgot to mention the other app:
Packit http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=89211 would appreciate your opinion.

Thank you in advance.

I like the way GUI shows only the available compression methods. For example if zip/unzip is uninstalled - zip option is missing from GUI when next time Packit runs. This makes possible adding only one dependency in deb package (gzip or squashfs-tools for example). All later installed archive tools (zip, rar, 7zip...) will auto-appear in Packit.
What I personally don't like is - pinstall.sh script adds hundreds of directories generated from /usr/share/mime/globes (and from /usr/share/mime/types I think) with packit link for right click option inside.
In the case with DD after using the uninstall script I still have left 623 (new created from pinstall.sh) empty directories in $HOME/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/OpenWith. For example DD has only 36 by default. But for Puppy it should be fine because Rox is much more better configured.

DD has similar tool from Terry (ArcDrop) with drag and drop desktop icon. It does not have all functions from Packit but works well for archiving files and directories.

Toni

Anyone trying this - backup your save file!
The only safe version for DebianDog is this one:
http://smokey01.com/saintless/DebianDog/Packages/Extra/nicons_3.4_i386.deb
Quick test shows this new script changes without asking rox configuration files and stops wallpaper changing (again without asking if this is OK or not). It does not restore on exit rox-configuration and wallpapers changing. Multiuser support is gone in this version.

Nice work again, Stemsee. Thanks!
I'm done with nicons testing.

Edit: The moded safe version removed from DD repository. It needs some more tweaking for user account about missing function message. I do not plan to fix it.. The files attached in archive here in case someone needs them.

User can easily turn wallpaper changer back on in wallpaper gui. If the user is going to change wallpapers with nicons then no need to ask them because they already decided!
I have faith that people who use DebianDog are not all idiots, but savvy! Same for rox pinboard_grid_step, easily activate fine normal coarse in options.

As for making nicons script multi-user.... yes I forgot to apply your patches as I modded my puppy script.

I can understand your being stressed by us amateurs, while you are at the critical point of releasing a new iso! But hey, "Accept it and move on. " Wink

You didn't forget. You simply do not care and instead learning and testing you prefer to let other people cleaning your own mess.

I did. You didn't.

Greengeek and Stemsee,
Please, feel free to make yourself at home Smile
I will keep quiet till Stemsee's-NiconsDog discussion continues here.
If you like better title for this thread I will be happy to change it for you.

To everyone:
any questions you may have about DebianDog-NiconsDog - ask Stemsee. He is in charge since today.

Hi Toni,

Ok, finally, new iso:
https://googledrive.com/host/0ByBgCDlZZ8K5bUsxVnhCTkhoZDA/DebianDog/DebianDog-openbox_xfce.iso
Locale-files module:
https://googledrive.com/host/0ByBgCDlZZ8K5bUsxVnhCTkhoZDA/DebianDog/00-locale-files-openbox_xfce.squashfs

I tried as much as possible to sync installed packages with JWM version e.g.:
- lame version from stable instead of deb-multimedia.
- installed libcdparanoia0 and libmad0 (not sure what's the use of them, btw, but these are very small anyway)

Just for info: I'm working on a new apt2sfs using the chroot method with unionfs-fuse.
I wish I discovered unionfs-fuse earlier, it's a very clean and safe way to use for apt2sfs, all installing happens in the chroot and separate 'write' directory (from which the module can be made).
Also I'd like to make a cli version, it's a work in progress.

Hopefully you stay being the one in charge for this thread Smile
