PostPosted: Wed 20 Aug 2014, 08:32    Post subject: pppoe for porteus wheezy

Hi Toni
thanks for quick reply. I have done following : install pppoe_3.8-3_i386.deb,ppp_2.4.5-5.1+b1_i386.deb and pppoeconf_1.20_all.deb all with dpkg -i. I have run
Code:
modprobe -v pppoe
=> all modules loaded correctly.
Code:
pppoe-setup
and entered the correct parameters
pppoe-setup says it was succesful
Code:
pppoe-start
=> TIMEOUT!
I will continue to search for a solution and post it if I find one.
Thanks for the help provided.

Hi, Fred and anyone interested from Skype 4.2.0.13.
Testing deb package for DebianDog available here:

Thanks Toni, working fine here!
What did you do to make this work without having to log in with new version first?

Another thing, I got the smokey-get script working also with google-drive now.
Please try, I'm curious if it works for you also.
Hope you don't mind I used your google drive address for it.
Attached gdrive-get.tar.gz
Edit: Re-uploaded, changed: curl not checking for certificates.

Sorry, Fred, I get nothing to choose for download from start, or after updating url-lst, with or without Recursive box checked. It shows all folders empty for me but I'm sure it is my ISP problem.

Ok, thanks for testing, not a problem as we don't really need it.
I still am also curious about how you did set up Skype Smile

Edit: Sorry, please try one more time again gdrive-get, the script uses also curl and I forgot to let curl skip checking certificates, re-uploaded, see edited previous post.

You have waiting PM in my Outbox the last few hours. Check out your inbox. Maybe it is 100% full? It is simple fix but I prefer not to post it here. The first loophole was closed by Skype team in a week. It will work longer if we keep the secret a way from google search Smile The packages are available and ready for use anyway.

Yes, this time works, Fred Smile Seems it takes longer to update url-list but I can download files from google drive this time.

Some reading, much testing and much luck is what made it work for me, Fred.
Anytime you need more information I will explain proper all needed steps.

Hi Toni, Fred and everyone,

Ethernet support has been added to PeasyWiFi, looks very promissing:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=796506#796506
any plans to debianize it?

Hi, Anikin.

From quick reading I see the default connection is wireless and wired is added as option by renaming files in /etc/rc.d
Debian does not have /etc/rc.d directory and I guess the location for the included files has to be changed inside the script. I do not use wireless and can't test myself the result. Also every next update from the author must be converted the same way for debian regarding the changes in /etc/rc.d and /root in order to make it work in multiuser system.
To the moment we have deb packages for frisbee, sns and porteus-xpns-tool_1.0.1_i386.
I do not plan to try but maybe someone else will make proper converted PeasyWiFi deb package.

Toni

Hi Toni,
Here is improved desktop-editor.
It's the one from porteus you found a while back, with changed/added:
- restarts now after editing so changes are visible directly.
- supports .desktop filenames containing spaces now (there are a few in openbox version).
- added 'New' button that opens 'MenuMaker' (which I took from puppy).
- menu-item for MenuMaker itself (which is rather complete on its own, you can create new, edit or delete menu-items)

Attached desktop-editor_1.0_i386.deb (remove dummy .tar extension)

Thank you, Fred!

Rebuilded the deb with version for replacing existing menu entry and both uploaded and linked in fixes post:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=776368#776368
Also uploaded here:
http://www.smokey01.com/saintless/DebianDog/Fixes/
I will replace the old versions in google drive in the next days.

Edit: BTW, Fred, just for information my problem starting Skype 4.3.0.37 is solved. Skype has dropped support for CPU with SSE flag:

Let me understand: "solved" sounds to me you got it working right but I have the feeling from what I read in your skype thread you know now "where the error comes from" only.
EDIT: sorry, silly question, must be the latter, that you found out the cause.

About my desktop-editor .deb, in case you didn't notice, there will be created symlinks, by the "postinst" script in /DEBIAN, to /opt/bin.

Yes, solved means I have to buy new hardware to use skype 4.3.0.37. Smile

No, I didn't notice this. I just saw the new desktop file in /usr/share/applications without testing the old menu entry.
Then I will remove the -replace version and edit the fixes post.

Toni

Am I correct in concluding that the mplayer is set up (compiled??) to not to work in the console framebuffer?

So if you exit X, it won't work with
Code:
"mplayer -vo fbdev2 filename" or "mplayer -vo fbdev filename"
.

When install mplayer or mplayer 2 from the repository, it uninstalls gmplayer and then it does work.

edit: i was able to add mplayer2 as an sfs file and everything works as expected.
