USB Printer on Router - Linux & Win7 Access

#1 Post by edoc »

I have an ASUS RT-N16 router.

It's loaded with the Tomato OS.

I set it up, as well as adding the P1006 printer setup, in Linux.

The P1006 printer works fine from multiple Linux computers.

It does not work from the Win7 computer our teen son insists on using. Sigh.

Is this a common problem?

Does he have to do something special on his computer or do I need to do something different re. the USB printer setting on the router?

What printer setup procedure is he using in Win7?

What driver package is he using?

See the instructions here for connecting a Windows client to a networked printer that is using the socket protocol. Ignore the stuff about the p910nd server.

These instructions are for XP, but they should be close to what you need with Win7.
