Selvam,

Welcome to the Puppy Linux forum! Tell us where you downloaded the Tamil font so we can attempt to duplicate your problem. There is a post about fonts at http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=7111 that might be of some help.

Http://www.wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html use this to search forums for "Tamil". I found your two posts listed plus sevaral others about installing Tamil fonts. Please post back here what you have done so other Tamil users can repeat your installation steps. Thank you for persevering to find a solution and sharing back your results. SELVAM. PLEASE SHARE puppylinux with other Indian users.

Fred Finster from Oregon USA.

Sometime in the future, check ifthesame steps work for Precise Puppy 5.7.1 version using a Usb flash drive install.

I am excited to see India using puppy linux, and wish you well. Welcome!

Sub_title: PET package

You can also try this font package:

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/y1wfzpg8q2bb82e/indic_fonts-ttf.pet?dl=1

You'll be able to read not only Tamil but also most languages of India and nearby countries.

If the text looks too small in your browser, simply go to Edit > Preferences and in the Content section set a minimum font size for Tamil. For example, in Firefox:

Sub_title: when you release next version of lucid puppy i need http://www.branah.com/tamilinscript to run by d

Thanks for your so many replies
Iam travelling and i will check after two days
But by default all fonts must run
Branah.com has all keyboards from many countries
I can not run http://www.branah.com/tamilinscript on firefox 23
so when you release next version of lucid puppy i need http://www.branah.com/tamilinscript to run by default without installing anything
I have 20 computers in microsoft
microsoft is charging 180 usd for software for a 250 usd computer
this is75% of hardware value
so i need to migrate to lucid puppy to save cost
microsoft instead of selling at affordable prices is minting money selling at huge 1000% profit

I have just checked the site and it works, I only had to install the Tamil fonts to be able to use it. However, normal Puppy Linux doesn't include support for languages other than English. To have Tamil support in Puppy by default, a Tamil Puppy has to be created. If you only want to be able to read and type the easiest way is installing the necessary packages. If you want Puppy to display programs and messages in Tamil as well, consider making a Tamil language pack, which will work in newer versions of Puppy (see Momanager section):

The latest version of Puppy Linux is Precise Puppy 5.7.1, with binary compatibility with Ubuntu Precise Pangolin:
