Hi mavrothal I have it in there.
No you do not. At least not in the iso I downloaded and looked in the initrd.

Code: Select all

$ ls mnt/
data dev_ro1 dev_save tmpfs
data2 dev_ro2 swap tmpfs2
PS: just to clarify: I'm not referring to the filesystem after chroot but the filesystem in the initrd. extract your initrd.gz and check

1610-13 say's

Code: Select all

    mount -t tmpfs -o size=${SIZEZK}k tmpfs /mnt/tmpfs3
    cp -af ${MNT_YFILE}${YFILE} /mnt/tmpfs3/
    sync
    losetup /dev/loop3 /mnt/tmpfs3/${YBASENAME}
but there is no /mnt/tmpfs3 folder (mount point) in your initrdfs to mount ydrv, thus the panic.
The original woof patch also mentions
Only in Woof2-ADRV_YDRV//woof-code/boot/initrd-tree0/mnt: tmpfs3
Just gunzip/cpio your initrd, add the tmpfs3 folder in the mnt folder in your initrdfs, cpio/gzip the initrdfs and check to see if this solves the issue.

I found it and fixed it in woof-CE so the next build will have it fixed, I did this 3 hours ago so thanks for your reply. Just really tired.
Cheers

installed on USB stick with Universal USB Installer.

Used it to watch video and surf the web for about an hour. Randomly tested some apps. Everything seems to work well.

Manual frugal install to ext3 partition.Everything looking good so far except......
when rebooting the first time to make my savefile I got a big red error message box about the NTFS-3g driver. Since the savefile is on ext3 no problem saving ...... believe it was reported in Barry K's Precise thread too.

Otherwise, everything else appears to be working well.

ADRV=is a drive that jemimah did for Saluki that one can put applications in and than put this adrive into the folder at /mnt/home then do a reboot and puppy will load this as part of the system. This does not affect how many sfs you can load at boot.

I hope this is clear enough to understand. rg66 could do a better job on what this is and what it does.

does it work in multisession dvds? I am proposing a rollup change to reduce loading times for us using multisession. a fully compressed sfs file option on save.

It should work as long as it is support in the puppy you are using. As this one will be when it get to the release edition. I can't test this since I don't have a cd-rom in my pc.

OVPrecise 5.7.30 BETA 1

#20 Post by Billtoo »

I did a manual frugal install to a 16gb SDHC card (now dual booting with 5720)
I booted up and set up 5730, used the boot manager to load the devx
and rebooted creating save file.
I made a few pets and then put them on the main hard drive, deleted my
save file and rebooted starting fresh.
Once the new save file was setup I ran the adrive script(used the main
hard drive for adrive directories).
Once the adrv_ovprecise_5.7.30.sfs was created I copied it to
/mnt/home and loaded it with the bootmanager.
It seems to have worked perfectly, I've never used one before.

The getflash utility is now working.
