[Solved] Puppy and Firefox 24

#1 Post by ninaholic »

Hello puppies! :)

I am wondering, if there is a version of Puppy that comes with Firefox 24 (or 24 ESR) out-of-the-box. If not, has anyone gotten it to work, and if so, on which version of Puppy? Slacko 5.61 (4g non-pae) seem to work on my laptop, but it has Firefox 17 ESR and I cannot upgrade to 24 through Help->About. Puppy 4.21retro also seems to work great on my laptop but it comes with a variation of Firefox 2. I could not get Lucid 5.28 to work yet (something about video drivers).

I think it would be nice to upgrade the Flash from 10.3 to 11.8-9 also, as 10.3 seems to freeze for me. Firefox 24 with Flash 11.8 works great for me in Windows XP and is a lot faster at Facebook Newsfeed, among other places (I think that is partially because pictures load a lot faster in 24), so I would like to try it in Puppy.

Any info on how to accomplish this (or threads where this has already been discussed) would be helpful. I am linux n00b but like Puppy so far! ;)

Edit (some links I found on here so far and might try later):

* Firefox 23.0.1 (for Slacko 5.5-5.6?) - http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=88128
