Thanks, gc!

That's one bug to report to Pemasu in the Upup Raring 3992 thread ;) it's not my doing AFAIK -- I didn't tinker one bit with JWM...

Manual install didn't find the sfs at bootup

I decided awhile back to just make the directory, put the files in it, then copy/paste some menu.lst lines and most pup's boot right up. VanPup didn't make the cut here. Maybe I messed up but not really. Thank you starhawk & I will hit it again tomorrow.

Might be something about Upup Raring 3992 ;) after all, that's what Vinnie's based on -- just as IIRC it says on the tin :P

If it persists, probably be a good idea to report it to pemasu... just sayin'...

That's just why I do now prefer NOT to build any new ISO (except for my own needs).

Because, everyone thinks, you were responsible, because you have build the ISO.

And, of course: you are responsible!

Well I hope you don't expect me to test absolutely everything :P at that rate there'll never be a Vinnie RC2!

...actually, on that note...

I let gc talk me into something :P (@gc -- just ribbin' ya a little, don't take it personally) that's gonna possibly be in a 2nd release of Vinnie, and I'm waiting on him to get that info to me, see if I want to include it. (I'm also an ace procrastinator, so please take your time, gc!)

Hi Ray
I think it doesn't work at all.
I only use Puppy 5.xxx version.
So Van Goh doesn't like animation too.

graphics apps into a Puppy OS_A long awaited-for proposition

Thanks,

As a Puppy user for a long time now, it was a long waiting before i came across a PuppyOS dedicated to graphic apps. I don't know yet Lightzone, but i look forward to try it with some Raw files of mine.
I hope it is to stay around for newcomers to Puppy Universe in years to come, who enjoy working with photographs.
Music fans have their studio version, now we may have our graphic version for all of us who are in visual arts and enjoying Puppy OS.

Cheers!

Now, if only there were a sensible way of getting the latest Krita shoehorned in there.

Probably not -- it sounds like it'd bring the rest of KDE with it, and I'd rather not do that -- but give MyPaint a whirl, maybe you'll find it an acceptable substitute ;)

Normally there's animation feature in Corel Xara.
But in this XaraLx-0.7r1785-Lucid.pet version there's no animation feature.
Thank for your question.

XaraLx is an abandoned port of Xara Xtreme to Linux... whatever group was doing it stopped (for reasons unknown to me) in ~2006 IIRC, and I'm afraid they never quite finished.

The full version is probably available for purchase somewhere... but it's Windows-only. Maybe it runs in WINE?

Sorry about your troubles... if you can find me something similar that does what you want, I'll try and include it.

I've got some interesting ideas floating through my head for Vinnie RC2 :) stay tuned...

Thank you for your kindness. I don't have time to test your jumbo Puppy yet.
Would you please make a smaller version, <300 MB, with KDE & Dolphin?
I think it's the best window & file manager in Linux.

Happy New Year 2014 to you.

:D Hello,
If you want some ideas on what to add to Vinnie, take a look at PAW.

And ignore the lack of response, it takes time.

problem with Google Chrome

Downloaded and tried it. Everything works fine with the exception that Google Chrome browser "CANNOT" recognise Chinese characters. Chinese character websites shows mess up "#X$##X" and totally unreadable. Is it possible something is missing ?

Thank you, Puppus... there may someday be another Vinnie. *I* certainly hope so! I'm waiting until I know what I'm doing, though, and that will be quite a while...

vflower, I know I'm a little late -- but that happened to me on Windows as well as on Puppy. It's something to do with how the page is made, not anything with the browser itself AFAIK. Some pages do it, some don't, just how it is...

Why Libre Office in a Graphics Puppy ?

Why Libre Office in a Graphics Puppy ? That is the useless Fat. on test bench.

Because I thought it would be useful, and because I have learned to trust neither Abiword nor Gnumeric. If you don't want it, strip it out and use the remainder... although, speaking as an artist myself, artists do all sorts of non-artistic things as well, and LibreOffice makes a lot of those tasks simpler.

A better suggestion, produce and release your own artist-oriented Pup, and leave out LibreOffice. That would be a sorely needed addition to the list of Pups we have now. It's not even all that hard -- I just have little idea of what to put in because my art is all on non-digital media, or I use a closed-source application for which there is not yet a suitable Linux equivalent. (I have a small WinXP system, which I keep 'Net-disconnected, for that one purpose.)

On a somewhat related note -- do you have anything to offer the community other than complaints about outdated Pups...? I have not seen much of anything else from you in some time... perhaps there is a task for you, where you could be helpful. You should look for that. I do...
