Updated wiki

The numbering scheme is potentially confusing. Was LxPup14 a beta?

Also is the journal dead?

- yes.

The website belongs to Jejy69.....

Thanks.
LxPup14 was declared final by Jejy69 I believe and was a more radical change from trad Pups in that he had moved away from ppm to gslapt as the package manager...but his website only offers 13.01 and 13.04Beta6. 14 is however available on sourceforge. http://sourceforge.net/projects/checkmatelxde/files/

LxPup13.10 is numbered from the 10th month of the 2013th year and is more of a successor to LxPup13.01 I believe.

LxPup13.10 is smaller at 177MB because it comes with a different selection of "eye candy".

Hope this is OK.
Cheers

I moved my SDHC card to another pc that also has an Nvidia card, I had
to go through choosing the driver etc again but it's working fine.

X Server: Xorg Driver: nvidia
X.Org version: 1.12.4
dimensions: 3360x1080 pixels (871x277 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GTX 560 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
OpenGL version string: 4.3.0 NVIDIA 319.60

I couldn't find any option in the menus to add workspaces so I clicked
on obconf in PCManFM and added 2 more workspaces, the panels were lost
temporarily but restarting the wm fixed it.

I'm enjoying this pup and still trying stuff out, thanks for your new
iso.

Hello peebee,

A very nice Slacko derived puplet. Congratulations! I'm sure Jejy69 is proud that his work and influence is carried forth. Who is this smargl7 bloke anyway? Never heard of him.

One Q.. is your compiz sfs compatible?

One annoyance (and this is one for the PCman devs, not you). When you mount a drive in the file manager and it happens to be the only tab open, on dismount PCmanfm closes. Would be more intuitive for incomers if it defaulted to $HOME instead of closing. I might raise it with them.

TBH, I think this interface is the future (ha... yes, there is probably puppy a future, and if not a puppy like future) given that JWM, while very light on resources, does look aged, no matter how tasteful the theme is, and that rox seems to be approaching its "use by" date, given that no development has happened in 4 years, apart from essential bugfixes.

Obligatory screeny...

Hi peebee,

I am downloading as I type this out. It sounds like you did a great job on this. I am very sure that Jejy69 would be pleased.

I too have enjoyed his work, Now it will be yours as well. Well be testing soon.

Hi peebee,

Thank you very much for this pup!
I was beginning to think about saying farewell to puppy linux, given the current situation, but your Lxpup changed my mind 8)

I had tried your -by-sfs's, but always ran into problems. ( bastard puppies: half jwm, half lxde) (and half bert's clumsiness  )

This Puppy just works, and elegantly.

One little thing, I changed the title bar in /usr/bin/lxp-shutdown:
Image

to:

Image

This is a lovely Puppy 8)

Gratefully,
Bert

Hi Bert

Glad you're enjoying the new iso...

I did know about the window title (it also applies to the Appearance changer window BTW) - it is a consequence of the way I built the iso using the LxPup-by-SFS components directly. I'll bear it in mind to change properly in the future.

Cheers

Thanks peebee,

Does anyone know if we can use Slacko's devx in Lxpup? (devx is, in my case, needed for translation -- momanager)

Yes - just use the same devx and kernel sources as for Slacko 5.6 4g non-pae.

The setup pet to add Compiz to LxPup13.10 is now available from:

The sfs is unchanged.

[BTW#2 - the way I've made this iso means that it would be easy I believe to make other isos for all variants of Slacko, Precise, Upup-Precise and Upup-Raring..... but I don't intend to do so unless there is "demand" as you can achieve the same result with lxpup-by-sfs]
I made the above assertion in a reply to 01micko and then managed to delete the post....senior moment

Anyway to test it I have made a version of LxPup based on Upup-Raring 3.9.9

I won't make the download link generally available but if you do fancy testing it, send me a PM and I'll send the link.
