Re: Live Mode Only
Peebee, I only do frugal installs. I am going to try it again and see what happens. I really like it and see that it is snappy and responsive. The sanity check failure was most likely something that I was not doing correctly. Thanks for responding. Keep up the great work.

Played around with this a bit last night - looking great, as usual, peebee!! One thing (I may have broken myself) - TAS not working, I believe it was ffmpeg complaining about missing libav.so's (iirc) - added the relevant symlinks, and ended up at some kind of libavcodec execution error - where I gave up. Anybody else see this - or was it just me and my tossing everything at it...?peebee wrote:8b3ebde7d31a37b5a3be8779d204e373 LxPupBionic-18.05+4.iso
Thanks, peebee!!

Bravo ! that is where to look... distrowath count only click by an IP
Linux column and Windows columns. Windows are supposed newbies to Puppy, else they would have used Linux to get LxPup
French Franc zone still white zone. Not surprising.

Both LxPupBionic and upupbb on the Fujitsu S761 i5 laptop updated to +8 using the deltas. md5sums all ok, no issues at all noted in either. upupbb with my pcmanfm and trash mods slightly ahead in the kennel this week I am continuing to use your 4.17.6 64b kernel & Slimjet 18.0.5.0 run-as-spot from SFS in both. I haven't dipped a toe into gyros overlayfs as I am a diehard savefile guy and as best I understand, it's savefolder only.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.
Me as well. Fingers crossed it doesn't find it's way into default WoofCE puppies until savefile support were to be fully implemented! Hopefully gyro has enough interest to make that happen some day...Marv wrote: I haven't dipped a toe into gyros overlayfs as I am a diehard savefile guy and as best I understand, it's savefolder only.

Hi peebee,
I installed LxPrecisePup15091 downloaded from
http://lx-pup.weebly.com/upup-precise.html
My understanding is that this has savefolder 'enhancement' incorporated.
Is this correct?
If so, unless i missed a step, I found that savefolder does not work.
Please refer to link below for details of what I did.

Savefolders are not the real problem....dcung wrote:Hi peebee,

sfsget probably shouldn't be in the build as it is accessing a repo that is not updated and is very out of date....jplt_bis wrote:Hi all,
i'am using LxPup-Sc - 18.06 with Kernel: Linux 4.16.13-lxpup64 (x86_64)
I want to install Virutalbox i don't find it in the Pup Control / Software / SFSget ?
I am not aware of a VirtualBox .sfs I'm afraid - and a quick forum search has failed to find a recent thread - although there are old threads.
There are Slackware packages but they are kernel specific....and the latest isn't there for 32-bit Slackware-14.2
I suspect your request is not possible.

LxPupBionic 18.05 +8 running the 4.17.8 64b kernel updated to 18.05 +12, keeping the 4.17.8 64b kernel (used for mitigations) on the computer below using the delta. The standard Grub4Dos frugal install to SSD. md5sum ok, video frame rate, lxtask reported cpu use at idle (1%) and memory use at idle (209 MB) both fine. Dmesg pretty clean. Regulatory firmware loading nag fixed by installing regulatory db as in upupbb and upupcc, the pet I use is attached below. Sorry I haven't chased the backend modprobe failures at all yet or looked at the stock kernel/pristine install wrt that yet. Everything concerning disks and media seems to be working perfectly.
Intel_pstate 'powersave' and acpi_cpufreq 'conservative' governors compared. Both work about equally well on this hardware with this kernel.
No CD/DVD to test, Sylpheed and Slimjet 18.0.5.0 with profiles symlinked to the EXT2 data partition as usual. Shutdown and reboot clean. Remains a very solid pup with perfect lxde/pcmanfm integration IMO.
Thanks,

Hi @Marv
regulatory.db is included in all the builds HOWEVER 3builddistro-Z deletes /lib/firmware and all its contents assuming that zdrv (or fdrv) will provide.
Needs a woof-ce change to fix - https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... ssues/1248
In the meantime, I do have a kludge which will fix new versions pro-tem.
Thanks for reporting.

I so very agree - simply fantastic Puppy, peebee! Everything working OOTB just as it should, with all of your great polish/tweaks/feature integration/etc - couldn't wish for anything more.Marv wrote:Remains a very solid pup with perfect lxde/pcmanfm integration IMO.
