No. 690 is suitable.
Well, Sigmund, eventually some brning seems to have occurred.

The task bar shows the main program and the "pBurn - Burning progress"
and seems to have hung.

I don't know what to do other than Ctrl-alt-Backspace.
Hi @Sheldonisaac. Did you notice if the writer's light was blinking or was the light stopped on OR off?

Hi, gcmartin.
By the time I saw your message and checked, the writer's light was on solid, not blinking.
Now it is off.
The screen on the computer on which the burning was attemped shows
the last several tracks (I had done another run, this time with only 77MB, on a 4x CD-RW),
and the computer is frozen.
The last thing on the screen is the yellow-on-black
BURN-free was never needed.
Hm. AFter I did the Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and restarted the Xwindows, I clicked on the sr0 icon (this is under Lucid Puppy 5.2.8.-005)
and saw the directory I'd told pBurn to burn.
And in it was able to play mp3 files.

Should I try again with 649MB?

Where do I find the log, if one was created?

Sheldon

here to help
No multi-session CD, just a fresh huge burn to test your memory behavior.

Does it work for you if burn with the default setting - Use Temporary storage?

Log is available at the error/finish dialog. If burning hung, log could be in /root/.pburn/tmp/log. Will be deleted next time pBurn loads.

Attached log is actually plain text, not a .tar .

Sigmund, the burn of 600+ MB seems successful, but the freezing of computer still occurred.

And using Temporary storage rather than on-the-fly does not help in your testing of the latter approach?

[edit]Just got peasydisc for the other computer. Did not notice any option for temporary storage vs on-the-fly .
Burned an 89MB directory onto the same CD_RW.
The cdrecord(?) program ends like under pBurn, but says something like "press enter". I did that, and was able to use the computer OK.
Ejected and reloaded the disc, was able to mount and read it.

Then I used pBurn, with the on-the-fly setting.
It burned a similar size (same?) directory OK, but again I had to exit from xwindows to regain use of the computer.

[edit]I'm now trying to burn approx 640MB on-the-fly with pBurn.
That computer, as I recall, has 4GB of RAM.

OK, done. Burned 649 MB to CD-RW

Oh, it is _NOT_ recognized by my home CD player, which _has_ recognized discs of MP3 files in the past

Need help on this.

Thanks,
Sheldon

I tested the Publish options, and see that these can only be set at first session. Did you change label for a blank disc, or was it a multisession?

On my system, it does not do any harm changing the label for the second session, but it does not use my new label-name.

I will deactivate the publish options if not burning first session.
