Your Puppy version and all hardware specs allow magic to happen.

Welcome to Puppy.

""""""""

It works in Ubuntu...so it should in Lucid.

So supply all specs.
No good giving you a more recent Puppy and it is slower.

3 headed Dog might work out of the box.

" Three-Headed Dog is based on Lucid 5.2.8 but with the
2.6.37.6 kernel from Slacko 5.3.1.
Some newer computers might work better with 3HD than with
Lucid 5.2.8.005. "

I used it yesterday to fix wireless on my daughters PC
with a wireless dongle...it had issues in Windows.

thanks for the speedy response, have tried the 3hd but still the same problem, fails to find the network and wireless cards. I am using a Samsung laptop with an i5-3210m 2.5 GHz processor. it is a 64 bit system.
Any further ideas

Have tried Precise 5.6.1 and 5.7.1 on a few Acer and Asus
relatively new laptops in the last week.
Both use Atheros wireless versions and both connected
easily using the wireless connection wizard.
