Ya my bad, thanks for reporting in. New ISO and delta uploaded.Marv wrote:PM'd you with this but for some reason mail takes foreeeever.
4.0 to 4.1 delta downloaded, md5sum ok, applied. In the resulting initrd.gz on the iso the DISTRO_SPECS still shows 4.0 so it won't boot. Copied the DISTRO_SPECS from the main 4.1 SFS in there and it books correctly. Haven't downloaded the full iso so don't know if that is true there also.
Update: That done, boots and runs perfectly on the core 2 duo iwlwifi i915 laptop. 4.0 savefile updated with no issues.

Are you trying to run a 64bit chromium or is this post in the wrong place? This is a 32bit puppy.tano70 wrote:chromium browser not work. please an ultimate version that work?
I'm running peebees 32bit SFS from here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 658#899658 I might be a version back at chromium_50.0.2661.94+pepper_21.0.0.213 but these have all worked for me OOTB and with the profile symlinked to a common location on an EXT2 partition. I do nothing but place the SFS in my frugal boot partition and use the SFS-load on-the-fly utility to load it.
Ps. I do usually install Opensans fonts from fontsquirrel.com and to me chromium renders better with them.
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.
Ok work!! thanks so much!! 32 bit !!Marv wrote:Are you trying to run a 64bit chromium or is this post in the wrong place? This is a 32bit puppy.tano70 wrote:chromium browser not work. please an ultimate version that work?

Re: applications don't open with associated applications
Hi rg66. I verified the MD5 for 4.0 and it matched. Then downloaded 4.1, verified MD5 and made a new frugal installation. The problem remains - no response on clicking or double clicking these files.Something is amiss. Double clicking txt and rtf files does not launch text editor or Abiword, respectively. An error happens when doing same with image files.
I've checked and re-checked default applications to no avail.
Help please. Thanks to all on this exemplary forum!
Something must be corrupted as I have no trouble opening txt, rtf or images in the default applications by double clicking. X-slacko4.0.iso md5sum is c997dd18644b2bf20fe6fed5b3e630a7
The problem did not exist in versions 3.1 and earlier.
Any other ideas?
re: applications don't open with associated applications
I just booted 4.1 as pfix=ram, frugal install to an SSD on a Fujitsu S6520 core 2 duo iwlwifi i915 laptop. Nothing at all done or added, not even internet connected or timezone set. I doubleclicked on .jpg and .pngs and they opened with the image viewer. Doubleclicked on a .txt and it opened with Geany. Created an .rtf with Abiword and then doubleclicked on it. It opened with Abiword. That all of them would fail is baffling.. Could you try a boot from different media (a USB stick or CD) on the same machine?

Re: applications don't open with associated applications
Just a possible additional clue to add - I was having a play with X-Tahr 1b3 the other day (live CD session, no savefile), and experienced a similar/same issue with it - double-clicking on various system .txt config files would produce no result (no Geany, no spike in CPU, no busy cursor, etc.). I found that I had to right-click and choose "open with Geany", where it would open normally. Checked the "default applications chooser" settings, and all looked normal - i.e. pointing to Geany for text files, IIRC.outtaspam wrote: The problem remains - no response on clicking or double clicking these files.
I think I even went through the right-click "open with..." > select Geany > "choose as default..." settings (or whatever it is in X-Tahr, to set as default) - to no avail, no change in behavior.
And oddly, certain other text files would open normally via double-click (sorry, but I don't recall any file differences ATM). Like as if a Thunar bug, having an issue with recognizing particular (text) file extensions/types, mimetypes or permissions, maybe. I meant to look into the issue a bit further, but ran out of time.
This was on an older Dell Optiplex 380 dual-core Pentium desktop.
FWIW,
Bob

absolutely my favorite distro puppy !! performance, the only one that can do shoot video and Internet browser with very little CPU resources, and then XFCE definitely for me the best Desktop Environment. No problem, everything runs smoothly and without a hitch, only small issue that I can not understand is that the automatic connection to my wifi, sometimes comes and sometimes wrong. If you could solve this problem would be absolutely perfect

Always said this was one of the best, but Mr tano70 - you have broken the rules of the Forum - please resize (or ask the moderator to) your pictures to fit the present standards. All this was explained many years ago, but lots of new correspondents have joined since then. Try 'Search' or ask one of the old lags.
PS. keep the pics of good looking ladies - not misogyny, just that they really do look a lot better than the average bloke.

Hi @rg66 x-slacko 4.1 is way better than previous versions. I make some revisions on the following script
* remasterpup2 and shutdownconfig information dialogs is now using box-splash instead of XDialog.
