Hi,
thanks for reply!

Code: Select all

Try running alsa again and choose the "legacy" option, then post your results.
I did not find any matching card.
No change even if selecting "heneric" or other! I do not get the "bark" upon check (but I do on the intel recognized by Alsa).

I suspect ther is some setup to do somewhere to tell audacity where to find the input but I do not know how ( I am rether newbie with linux and sound matters).

thanks in adcvance for any answer!
Cheers
Charlie

OK - i took a better look at your post. I have had some trouble with getting Audacity running, but managed to do so -- here are ideas:

- check dependencies
- Download ttuuxxx's audacity 1.3.5 sfs file and use it -
- Look at this page for ideas -- there also a link at the bottom to Charni's sfs based on audacity 1.3.4 (i haven't tried his)
- also - i have needed some/all of these files in the past to install it:
  • jack-0.109.2pet
    jack_dev-0.109.2.pet
    libsamplerate-0.1.2.pet
    libvamp-1.0.pet
    lives-jack-0.9.8.7.pet
    soundtouch-1.5.pet
    twolame-0.3.12.pet
    wxgtk-2.8.7.pet
    wxGTK-2.8.9-unicode.pet
You may want to start by getting a copy of a puppy that has audacity built in already and seeing if that works with your system -- check out the Pupitup Music Lab or one of ttuuxxx's puplets.

post back---!

I was having trouble with Audacity running when I remastered. I also save a couple of MB because of libs that aren't needed to run the Win version. I'm probaly goiung to change Audacity to Wavosaur anyway.

Go to the #1Ubuntu chat site :) This is puppy Linux, you can run xp and puppy on the same pc, actually You can run puppy on xp, you can run puppy live off the cd or do a frugal install which is safe.

What a pain, package after package, Anyways I compiled it with firewire support, So you get all in one package now, if I missed anything in package just let me know, I made 2 packages one with the devs and jack full all together so you can compile with it, and one with just plain jack and all the other needed applications for firewire to work. Most would only need the smaller package, on if your planning on compiling really use the other package.
enjoy

Thanks for this pet, ttuuxxx.

I am playing with the old Pupitup version 4.1.2 and I couldn't get the sound out of TkSolfege because of the "fluidsynth: cannot find /dev/dsp" error. I figured that since the program was included in the iso, the OSS-ALSA thing would have been taken care of. Maybe I missed something but after I installed your pet and rebooted, I can hear the chords.
