Files joust will works ? Subject description: focus on an easy puppy derivative |
|
This is an invitation for focus on an easy puppy derivative, that can be easier to use out of the box.
Puppyes run yes out of the box, and are very copatible whit many machines,
but (from my point of view), if you wont more than the basics, you can, but face fragmentation of the programs. ( some puppy have 3 task manager -for what?)
One of the appreciable effort in this direction is “default program chooser”.
Puppy Carolina is one of the most complete puppy that try to avoid fragmentation of software that I know.
I do not like proprietary software like iOS (my girl have it) , that does not give choices, but I appreciate their way to merge programs.
What I mean:
-open text, documents, whit one program from file explorer, if you install open offfice in puppy still file explorer does not know that you have it.
- one video vewrer for all the video format, in some puppyes you need a second o one for different formats
- local email – the programs ( browser, texteditor, picture etc... ) know how to send to email client.
- Drag and dropp. All the program support drag and dropp files ( I like fotoxx but have this limitation)
- set up – all in one menu, like in Carolina
portable local e-amail – a standard format for export and inport emails form one puppy to an other.
- extra porgams to install - can respect some standard (like drarg and dropp, mail cliet link, templory files folders in or out .sfs , local languges)
So far so on.......
maybe I ask too much from the work of volontary free softeweare,
but this is the standard now of commercial OS for smarphones an pcs.
All of that I complain about, I kow that is possible to do in the actual puppyes, and some of the solution I already solved manually myself, I joust a little tired of all the technical arrangements, and also I'm frustrated that I cann not suggest puppy to fiends that like the easy way.

Have a look at lazy puppy... he seems to do some of the things you mention and may be interested in your suggestions..

Friendly puppies tend to come from users... perhaps you learn and customise it for your friends.
