Are there any new updates to Macpup 550? I'm missing this distro a lot. I stop using it because of some compatibility issues with chromium and skype. I hope they are still active in building new version of this Puppy Derivative.

Good to hear from you bro and I am glad things are fine and dandy with you and your family. I will be leaving here Monday morning and taking my time moseying across TX. I should be passing through Dallas by Tuesday morning or afternoon.

Heading to South Carolina Mountains to ride the rapids and eat pulled pork sandwiches while I get my biker on.

I will wave howdy as I pass through on I-20. You guys tore it up with style with your puppy builds. Much respect from me.

Happy Trailz, Rok

Shucks. Another major developer leaving Puppy.

After pemasu, iguleder and so many others.

You're lucky I don't know you, runnitt, because I'd be giving you a mouthful. As a
facade, I'll be polite and wish you well, but now is not the time to abandon ship:
have you seen how much Puppy has dropped on the DW popularity chart?

And the next generation has simply not accumulated enough experience yet to pick
up where you and our other "dearly departed" developers have left off.

This is burning me:

Are you really leaving for family reasons -- politicians and higher management use
that excuse all the time to leave their post.

Or have you simply had enough of Puppy and Puppy-ists? Maybe you're fed up with
Puppy-ists' in-gratitude?

Tell us the real reason, please. Thanks in advance. BFN.

@runtt21

Thanks for your contributions. Macpup was a solid, fun distro and I'm sure it will continue to be used by new and old puppy users.

Kind regards,

I still have some Mac Pups, beautiful, stable,
and a tribute to keeping older hardware useful.

Family and career are high priorities, wise men
keep them that way!
Cheers

MacPup was (and remains!) my favourite distro as it combines Puppy with E17 - two of the best pieces of Linux computing ever.

And moreover - MacPup is one of the most customizable and beautiful puplets as I tried to show in 'more gorgeous'-thread with my screenies.

Thank you runtt21 for you've done and I wish you all the best in your current activities - but what I wish you more is to get back to Puppy someday and create more great distros!

Hey Runtt...your defection from the kennels is an unpleasant surprise....i hardly know what to say! :( except that i'm chuffed to have hosted your beautiful, cool pups in the past, and to have enjoyed a working kind of friendship with you, and thank you for all that you gave to us :D

I know things change, but i for one don't always like it - maybe i'm getting old and too comfortable with the way things have been..

But - it's about you and your life, which i hope is treating you well, and i wish you the very best of everything that brings you happiness.
Thanks for popping in to say cya, instead of simply never being heard from again

Cheers,

Macpup is back again on my Pupply player

#137 Post by Pelo »

Macpup is back again on my Puppy player ( the computer). By spending days and nights on testing and trying to repair bugs, you forget to use your computer for your pleasure. The Pendrive was buried in a drawer; Gnome-mplayer shows the artist cover, how did i do ?
This pendrive was done from a CD, when i was young.
Macpup last use nov 2015.. two years; But our forum does not speak of macpup enough.

WxtoImg install

#139 Post by Rodney Byne »

Hi to all,

It was a lengthy process, but I succeeded to install
weather satellite picture capturing program WxtoImg
from their homepage, to Macpup 550.

All of Craig Anderson's instructions are clearly displayed
on the web site.

It helps of course to have a custom built RX2 receiver
for 137Mhz and turnstile aerial to hand, to enable the
program to run properly.
A radio scanner is better than nothing but overall inadequate.

Download, install and run for this distro:
wxtoimg-linux-2.10.11.tar.gz

Here are the install strings to Terminal:

cd Downloads
gunzip < wxtoimg-linux-2.10.11.tar.gz | sh -c "(cd /; tar -xvf -)"

Drag a run shortcut xwxtoimg from /usr/local/bin
to desktop.

If you can achieve to receive beautiful weather images, then well done.
Regards.

A word of caution.

#140 Post by Rodney Byne »

Hi to all.
A caution.
Don't accidentally right mouse click on the blue close down
button, as it will disappear from the dock and you won't
be able to access the shut down dialogue.

Not being a programmer, I had in panic to wipe
and re-install 550 back on to the memory stick.
It's a shame there isn't any coding protection
to prevent this happening.
Regards.
