Puppy Slacko 5.5 XL
A couple of minutes to download the 628MB ISO.
A few minutes to burn the ISO.
Three minutes to boot to the desktop.
Installed bootup time would be quicker - just reporting my findings (I always boot from CD/DVD).
Looks really nice and clean. Good job. Well done K. You've clearly worked really hard on this project.
Observations :
Openshot - isn't fully functional without inkscape and blender. In my experience you have to be careful which blender you pair with openshot (blender 2.59 seems a good choice). You'll also need either mesa or nvidia drivers to be installed - at least for the animated titles (that use blender) to be able to work.
AbiWord 3.0 is out now - after having fluffed up with 2.9 they've fixed many bugs etc. Combined with gnumeric and locale (dictionaries) those two are a lot quicker than Libre and as such would be nice to have them available as SFS or PET's that could be pulled in - perhaps instead of Libre (i.e. maybe have both abiword/gnumeric OR libre as SFS's that can be added as desired/preferred).
I did hit the black-screen-of-death during bootup that my hardware tends to always hit (ctrl-alt-backspace being required and then run xorgwizard manually to select nv). For anyone who wasn't aware of such issues that could be a problem. The more usual workaround is to include the nouveau.modeset=0 boot option.
Again - well done K.

I would like to report that hp LaserJet Pro p1102w is up and working using Slacko-5.5XL. One needs foo2xxx-2014-04-26,and the udev patch for foo2. In the forum Hardware ---> Printers ---> Sticky.
I got this up and running after a few stumbles. One being to scroll down the driver list for the foo2 version. I thought the first on list was OK... it is not OK. The other is to select the Printer name without the HPLIP in it.
The Printer Wizard (if on-line) gets one to the right places if you need help or not.
EDITED FOR CORRECT NEEDS

Been having Internet prob.s recently. My system (Zoom 5590 Eth/WiFi M/R) was getting old and noisy after about 6 years in service.
basically a wear-down of Signal/Noise from typical 12db to 6db.
New modem Zoom 5790 was cheaper and power-frugal.
This new modem/router works well in Puppy Slacko 5.5 XL, but manual install and config. One can use the auto-setup once connected with ISP name//pass.
So, Zoom 5790 works well here (and I presume most other distros in the litter.

puppy slacko on eee-700 series
I can report that I have puppy-slacko 5.5XL up and running on an ASUS Eee model 702 (eeepc 8G). It can in fact operate on the 701, also tested. Not sure about the smallest 700-surf (2Gb SSD), and untested. One might do better using SoftOffice-freeoffice, rather than LO4.x.
I let puppy drop out of X and used xorgwizard. NOTE: this is a different version than in slack57-23ff.
I set the screen horizontal manually (use option Z) at 30.0 to 40.0
vertical to 59.0 to 73.0
Driver came back Intel (OK)
Mouse was tested OK
xwin after finished.
For me PuppyPin placed the icons the way I wanted, and the default screeny stretched (shrank in this case) properly.
Typing this from the 702 model... Nice to have something familiar again.
Its very transparent to the "Old eee w/Xandros" w/o the Xandros
Many thanks again for 5.5XL.

My first puppy... very close to Xandros included with EEEpc, and nearly the same size.
This one inflates to 2.2Gb. Jumbo sized indeed.
From here, I went to Slacko 5.7, and shrank the EEEpc version of this to under 160Mb ISO. (Using FreeOffice instead of OpenOffice/JAVA)
