Synaptic package manager errors out (SOLVED)

Hi guys...

I installed Synaptic to hopefully replace PPM, however, when I go to run it, I get the following error message...

Code: Select all

E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (2: No such file or directory)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

Is there a way I can go about fixing this? I am running Precise Puppy 5.6.1 with dpkg 1.16.1.2ubuntu7.1 already installed.

EDIT: Never mind, I decided to uninstall it.
