I tried this, it needs a few dependencies, I had it working the first time I tried it but now it has an error, it may work better for you.
You will need python2.7, the urwid-1.1.1.pet is to big to post on the forum so I put it on my dropbox urwid-1.1.1.pet 458.6 kB

I tried Turses again today and it appears to be working once more, I did nothing so it may have been the other end at fault.
