Probably my bad about missing kvm modules, but k3.10.1 was never going to be final. 3.10.3 is out now so I'll compile it soon for a hopeful midweek release. Thanks for the icon fixes.

Hey Mick, good to see you back! Smile

Two more broken icons down:
1. /usr/local/apps/Xlock/AppRun, line 113 could be for instance:
Code:
    <input file stock=\"gtk-zoom-fit\"></input>

(though there's no 100% corresponding icon for 'preview' in gtk-stock)

2. /usr/local/firewallgtk/firewallgtk, line 39 could be:
Code:
   <input file stock=\"gtk-close\"></input>

_____________

(continuation of this post)

Although my previous modification of ffconvert script made that some of presets have started to work, but not all.

With a help from, inter alia, WinFF and its own presets, I modified most of entries in /usr/share/ffconvert/preset in order to make them working at all (and hopefully also properly) in Slacko-5.6 (and also in 5.5 - they didn't work there before!):

Unfortunately, I totally failed with this fantastic four:
Raw DV: for NTSC Fullscreen
Raw DV: for PAL Fullscreen
Raw DV: for NTSC Widescreen
Raw DV: for PAL Widescreenwould

Also, in case of all wma/wmv related presets the least intrusive way I found was to replace '-f wma [or] wmv' with '-f asf', so the output file extension is also '.asf'.
Not so pretty, but at least works. One can rename it later.
EDIT: fixed - .wma/.wmv extensions are handled properly now. Reuploaded after 4 downloads.

I haven't tested all of presets extensively, but I made an alternative ffconvert.pet (it's a complete .pet, albeit only 'ffconvert' and 'preset' files are modified) for testing purposes, so if anyone could confirm if it works better now, it would be great!
Especially, that I'm not an expert if it comes for ffmpeg, codecs, formats and all that mess. Rolling Eyes Wink

PS. I didn't post this in FFConvert thread, because most of these mods is intended for Slacko-5.5/5.6 exclusively, so I've no idea how this could behave in other Puppies.

Greetings!

micko,

As your tagline says, keep the faith. Slacko is a fine distro, and I, like you, have always felt that USB installs where really were Puppy shines. Full binary compatibility with Slackware, combined with Slacko's savefile capability would be something. Other small distros might offer something similar, but only with a good deal of additional effort.

You've had (and will continue to have) a great run with Slacko, really taken Puppy places in reliability and useability, and stamped Slacko with your own personality. It's solid, dependable, and a great foundation. Bit like concrete, really. Wink

Part of the reason I use Slacko is because it felt like a true LTS version of Puppy. Things in it worked, and you didn't seem in some race with yourself to constantly tinker with the distro. There have been mercifully few upgrades to Slacko since you took over the project; many of us appreciate that.

Looking forward to what comes next; all the best with your classes.

Hi mick,

Another great piece of art you have done for us Thanks Very Happy Very Happy

I did notice that with jwm Manna will not open to full screen, it keeps bumping back to default when trying to maximize. The Manna Updater does not work-got it fixed by installing from ppm yad, thanks for putting it in the repo!!!

I am using openbox-plus 1.5.3 and everything is working just fine.

Manual frugal install to Dell D430.

I like it when app devs pick up on latest developments.. thank you shinobar

Also, radky is taking care of the bug reported by Karl, thanks radky.

peebee, what source/patches do you use for wl driver? I'll build it before producing the next for the PAE version. The non-PAE will retain the same kernel so I'll use the driver you posted.

I'll also build ndiswrapper modules for respective kernels.

Hi Mick

Reminder - in 5.5.71 I have to
Code:
rfkill unblock wlan

I have uploaded patched sources here

The basic source is from here

The k3.10 patches are from here - courtesy of / found by pemasu

Thanks Shinobar! It's a good news and a relief, that it was also possible to preserve FFConvert's backward compatibility.
It's certainly the best frontend for ffmpeg I have ever been using.

Speaking of which, JWM still has some problems with fullscreen mode (I don't mean "maximize"), for example: xrick (hit F1 to go to fullscreen).

Greetings!

At the moment I'll do nothing and see if it's fixed in 3.10.4 (just compiled). I notice bigpup has an interesting related problem in precise-5.7. I do have a work-around ready to slot in.

cannot mount any samba shares, with nor without password.

Slacko-5.5 ... OK
Slacko-5.6beta ... NG

Precise-5.6.1 ... OK
Precise-5.7 ... NG

Has anyone tested?

Ok, it is confirmed with the newer kernel. I didn't test the older one yet but I think it's ok. I am testing with a win8.1rp share and it fails with SPNEGO error and doesn't print the shares. If you know your shares you can mount with cifs.

It is a known bug with old smbclient which was fixed in 3.5.6 but we need a standalone smbclient, I am on the hunt. the version puppy ships is very old but small. A patch does exist for old smbclient but I can't find Barry's sources. Anyone know where they are?

The workaround for now is to install full samba from the repo. I will also try to build a minimal samba and hopefully get a small smbclient with minimal dependencies.

I tested this in slacko-5.5.71 with YASSM. It identified and mounted Win7 shares (with authentication) OK. A Samba-TNG server needed the "sec=ntlm" option, but was also detected OK.

Samba shares work OK for me on both Slacko 5.5.7x and Precise 5.7 albeit using the setup and the workaround described at http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=63090&start=96

@01micko: To test this, run
Code:
smbclient -U username%password -L win8name

Does this generate the spnego error?
