I Report that Google Chrome breaks CUPS v 1.5.4 of Lighthouse 6.02 (Interna Server Error).

Same problem occurs in FatDog64, but the difference is that in FatDog, when I unistall Chrome, CUPS turns back at work, not in LightHouse.

On puppies 32bit with CUPS 1.6 this not happens.

Any idea?

@Fabio T
  • Question
  • Are you running Mariner or are you using Base LH64-602?
Mariner has Chrome built-in when booting and Base, which doesn't have it, requires that you install if from somewhere.

This "may" make a difference and yield differing behaviors.

I've run LightHouse Mariner.
But I tried to install Google Chrome 29, 64 but Chrome works fine, same Seamonkey, but I can't use CUPS for error.

Empasse was solved with this script:

8<---------------------------------------------------

#!/bin/bash

## Locks in printer permissions: root:nobody
## To reverse, change to "chattr -i"

[ -f /tmp/list ] && rm /tmp/list
cd /etc/cups
ls -l | grep "nobody" | cut -d " " -f8 >>/tmp/list

cd /initrd/pup_rw/etc/cups

while read line; do
chattr +i "$line"
done < /tmp/list

chattr -R +i /initrd/pup_rw/var/cache/cups
chattr -R +i /initrd/pup_rw/var/log/cups

# rm /tmp/list

### Note: leave /var/spool alone

#chattr -R -i /initrd/pup_rw/var/spool/cups

------------------------------------------------------>8

I've tried to use also with FatDog 64 but won't work because of differenf filesystem and directories

Another question (please). If I want to install Frisbee, what Can I do? Frisbee beta available on forum don't works.

Thanx for answers.

Midori Browser for LH64-602b2

#454 Post by edoc »

Any chance of a Midori PET or SFS for LH64-602b2?

http://www.puppylinuxfaq.org/add-on-sof ... r-pet.html

Firefox is making too many bad moves.

Midori appears to be WebKit-fast, is cross-platform, open-source, & defaults to the privacy-respecting DuckDuckGo.com Search engine.

Solved issue with Google-Crome, what can I do with sleep?

#455 Post by Fabio T »

(After a few workarount I've solved issue with Google Chrome that breaks CUPS - I've prepaed a new updated .SFS with correct attributes of directories.

But remains a problem:

When I close the lid of my laptop, after I reopen it, to wake up my laptot I must touch on-off button; system wakes up but after a few seconds it goes again on sleep, even I click mouse or open some windows - This is very annoying when I am at work and in a hurry (it repeat this process more and more to wake up system definitely).

My laptop is a Fujitsu T902, works correctly with Upup Raring and FatDog 64.

What can I do to get sleep worked correctly?

Thanx

What might this process be, please?
8062 8061 root S < 176m 5.2 0 0.4 X vt07 -nolisten tcp
I was trying to figure out the post-boot series of lines about something having to do with a video process and ran top processes.

BTW: When I mouse-roller/center-clicked on this it disappeared from the process list.

Any idea if/how the adoption of systemd by Ubuntu, in-agreement with Debian, RedHat, & SUSE, may impact LH64?

LHP is based on Slackware64, and Pat V has pretty much said before he has no plans on move to systemd.

So in the near future there's no cause for concern. It's something we will have to deal with in a couple years, but I think we're ok for now.

You may already have solved this. But, if not, for LH64's built-in Frisbee, right-click the networking icon on the taskbar to select "Setup Networking". See Frisbee in the opening window.

For anything newer, we may have to appeal to @01Micko for his updated version which can be used here.

Here to help

A bug in the widely used open source GnuTLS encryption library makes it possible to silently expose encrypted user data with a specially crafted certificate

LibreOffice MultiSave

#464 Post by edoc »

The MultiSave extension for LibreOffice implies that it can save a document to several types at once.

When I open LibreOffice I can see MultiSave and MultiSave-As under File but when I open a PDF document those disappear.

I'm guessing it cannot convert a PDF to a .doc or other text format.

Does anyone know of a LibreOffice extension that can get the job done?

Thanks!

I am no expert on this as it is asked by your question; The idea when PDF technology were initially concieved and created, it was that they were a means for making "finalized" documents...not to be edited. But, tools have come along (even from Adobe) that support editing certain PDF types and saving. Still, you may have a PDF that does not support re-saving as a PDF. Without using the multi-function feature, does Libre allow you to, singularly, save the document to a new PDF?

One option for those "uneditables" is to open it in a PDF viewer/editor OR in your Google ID under docs.google.com; then copy-paste-save in Libre.

Also, as I seem to remember, I think a PDF created by Libre can be an "editable" PDF. I have to create a document, then save as PDF, then re-open to see it I can continue editing.

Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply.

I can edit & save the PDF in LibreOffice.

Somewhere there must be an extension that equips LibreOffice to Export As a PDF to text ... I'll keep looking.

Thanks again.

ps. I avoid Google anything as they are not my friend any more than Russia is a friend to the Ukraine.

I have successfully installed LH64M on my Dell Optiplex 740 Enhanced, with 3 Gb of RAM. I had a problem getting the savefile to save, then found that either Ubuntu or Mint had formatted sda5 to some weird filesystem I'd never heard of; using GPartEd to reformat it ext4 solved the problem. And despite my n00bness, I managed to update Firefox and get it to run from the Browser button (although the icon changed and. I can't figure out how to change it back).

I've been having serious problems with getting any OS to run on this machine. It came with Ubuntu Karmic and upgraded all the way to Trusty...but then a tweak was found to be unwanted and I could not get it to revert. Since that event, I was unable to reinstall Ubuntu or install Mint, and was very happy to get LH6M to be so compliant.

So even an Aspie like me can get Mariner to run well. Any word on TaZoC's return and a Final version?

LibreOffice is not working... I have downloaded the SFS and have it in the correct directory, but something is happening. When I click on the icon, it says

File doesn't exist, or I can't acess it: /opt/libreoffice4.0/share/xdg/startcernter.desktop

When I go to the directory, /opt/libreoffice4.0/share/ is there but there is no xdg subdirectory. I've check "hidden files" just in case.

Any ideas?

Hugs,
Moss
