Looking for a better file manager

#1 Post by jacatone »

I'm using Slacko 5.5. The file manager is a bit basic. I'm used to one with a tree to the left side enabling me to jump between directories and files. Is there something like that out there? Also, with the package manager, why does it show an .exe search when that's Windows? How do you use this thing? Thanks.

there are TONS of options. You'll need to check around and see which one you think will best fit what you prefer.

Heres a short list of ones I've used in the past:

SpaceFM
Krusade
Dolphin
emelFM2
Nautilus
PCManFM
ROX-Filer
Thunar
4Pane

There is only one worth using.

XFE.

Pets available, works in all pups.

Adagio

I'll second that, but if for some reason you don't like it, SpaceFM is a close second.

4Pane is good too.

terminal-based, dual-pane, built-in local help in some packages :) what's not to like? highly recommended.
