Soundcard ESI1010 and Puppy Studio 3.3

#1 Post by Aragornos »

Hello,

I'm using a PCI soundcard ESI1010 (10 inputs, 10 outputs) on Puppy Studio 3.3

Alsa, Jack recognized the card
Problems are
- the SPDIF input and output don't work
- Alsamixer don't show the correct inputs
- Gnome-player can't read any mp3 file. The reading can't start.
With VLC it works well and I can hear the sound.

The problems are the same on Puppy Studio 4.
Have you an idea about this?

:D Hello,
Reboot fresh.
Do not set up alsa.
Use the devices menu in jack
to select your card.
Worth a shot, avoiding alsa worked for me..
Best of luck. :-)

Thanks Puppyluvr

It seems alsa starts automatically. Do you know a way for disabling alsa?

I've got one problem more and bigger:
No sound with inputs 1 and 2 (with jack), but not every time. It worked one time and don't work the other times after, doing the same with a fresh reboot. I only open jack after the boot.

The problem is the same with live-dvd ubuntu studio 13.10
Any idea?

On Alsa site I found that the module for my ESI1010 is snd-ice1724.

But Alsa loads module snd-ice1712 instead. Maybe the cause.
Does somebody know a way to replace snd-ice1712 with snd-ice1724 ?
