How to bring to sleep mode?

#1 Post by ssreddy »

Is there a way to bring the desktop to sleep mode & wake it up?

I'm using Puppy Linux latest Slacko version from a flash drive.

Hi,

I'm not sure if you're using "desktop" to describe your machine or your screen. So ...

If you have a Desktop computer I only know how to set the Screenlock icon to show a passworded plain black screen (or other screensaver).

If you have a Laptop or Notebook you might try the link below and read Caveat No 3 - all radky's apps are brilliant and, where appropriate, they integrate with each other. Click on "PupMates" in the latest post from radky (see his signature) for ease of access to all his current apps.

My regards

PS My apology if the above link to PupShutdown is failing.

Thanks Jasper for the reply.

I am referring to my desktop machine to enter into sleep mode & bring it back like it's done in Windows. To awaken the machine, we simply press the power button there. I don't see "suspend" or "sleep" in the shutdown menu here.

I'm getting 404 error on trying to open the above link by jasper.

Click on "search" in the forum option near the top your page
then type pupshutdown in the first box, then radky in the
second box, then click on Search.

PupShutdown should appear near the top of the list, but from
my quick read there does not seem to be a "sleep" option for
Desktops. If you don't get a definitive answer soon - you
could, as a last resort, PM radky and repeat your question.

My regards

Unusually, although I had tested the link it failed for some
unknown reason despite my care with several attempts.

From developer of Slacko (01micko)
Suspend is intentionally turned off in the acpi script for USB, this is a protection mechanism for USB installs where everything is in RAM, including save file [* not strictly true, everything waiting to be saved to the save file pending the 'snapmerge' is actually more accurate] and the chances of RAM crash are much higher.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
