Copy fast - Version 1.9
Version 1.9
During a folder copy I now show a list of files that have been copied.
Because rsync -a is used for a folder copy, updating a folder is
done efficiently i.e. only a newly created file is copied to new location.
The window will explain which files are copied.
Also fixed a bug where a file was copied twice.

I haven't tried 1.9 yet but I tried both 1.6 and 1.8. When I installed the 1.6 .pet in Slacko, it said there would be an entry under Utilities, but there wasn't, or at least I couldn't find it. Slacko's Menu design is not to my liking. 1.8 said there'd be an entry under Desktop, but again I couldn't find one.
However, both 1.6 and 1.8 did seem to work perfectly when I right-clicked on an author directory and chose "Copy to" my mp3 player. Note that this copies a book subdirectory within the author directory. So far, the files in the books I copied are playing in the correct order. I did not find a log in /tmp after the copying was done in 1.8, but I don't really need one as long as I'm confident that the copy is going right.

I made the Arab mo file and posted in first post.
It's missing a couple of translations because it's using copy-fast 1.6 pot
and I made a few improvements in version 1.9
I noticed that rsync -a is slow in doing folder copies, but the benefits
outweigh the slowness, so I'll keep it.

puppy linux (maybe Slacko?) has a bug in the dir2pet application
that puts unwanted desktop files in Building block apps.

I came across another oddity while testing ---> A copy of a link
follows the link to the actual file!! So the actual file is copied!!
I'm not sure if that is good or bad. It would be easy to change
by putting an option to the cp command but I don't think
it's worth the trouble.

I put Bert's Dutch translation in the NLS file.
AbdelAziz has given me an improved version of Arabic that I can
put in tomorrow.
Any other tranlations are welcome. Just fill in the pot file if you
don't know how to use momanager. Send back to me.

Thanks to nilsonmorales. I'll make the pet package next week.
For people new to translating, you need to use a recent Puppy distro
like precise or Slacko. Load your devx file . Install the pet package.
Then run 'momanager' which will allow you to choose the script.
It is called 'fast-copy' and it is located in /usr/local/bin/
Click button next to the name of the script and everything should
be simple after that. Send me the mo file that is generated.
If you don't want to go through this procedure you can just fill-in translations in pot file and send the pot file to me and I will make the
mo file.

put links in package for Rox
- I made sure it works in Akita Distro

Can you give us an example of what you mean? Copy Fast works perfectly to copy folders that contain hundreds of mp3 files. It uses rsync, the only file handling program I know of that copies the files in strict numerical order (or I suppose alpha-numerical, though my files are never ordered that way).

can this be modified to copy multiple files/folders at once?
if you select more than one file in a given directory, or more than one folder, you no longer are given this program as an option on the right click menu.Flash wrote:Can you give us an example of what you mean? it does copy a file or a folder no problem. the more i use it, the more convenient it becomes, especially as the locations list gets populated. it's a great program, but i often wish to copy only select items in a given directory, not the whole thing. and there are times when i want to copy more than one directory to another location....
does this feature exist and i just can't figure out how to access it? assuming the folder's not empty, copying a folder is copying many files, true, but i don't normally think of copying a document as copying multiple words or lines of text. sorry for being vague.
(and regardless, thanks for this one as well, don570.)
