Hi there!

In Fatdog64 621, is there a way to remove built-in packages. The Re-master Live CD utility doesn't give the option and I can't find any help on the forums (apologies if I've missed it - I've been trying for a couple of hours)

I was hoping to remove Seamonkey (the browser or the whole suite, whatever) from Fatdog64 621 and then other unused packages. I want to free up as much ram as possible.

That's it. What follows is beside the point, but in case you're wondering...

I've installed Firefox instead because

- I like 1 click addition and removal of tabs
- I can't find an add-on in Seamonkey for managing Flash cookies / LSOs
- The status bar doesn't seem to work in Seamonkey
- Firefox is in my comfort zone already

I'm mainly concerned with the ram consumed when my browser is NOT running - the bins and libs in the ramdisk.

Hi,

There is no easy way to remove built-in packages in Fatdog because the installed packages are not tracked. You can delete files during remaster process, of course, if you know what files to delete, but I agree that isn't easy at all.

As for seamonkey, it is kept in /usr/lib64/seamonkey-xxx where xxx is the version. You can delete this folder during remaster safely. You may also want to look at /usr/share/applications and delete desktop files which refers to seamonkeys (e.g. seamonkey-mail, etc). Do not delete "defaultbrowser".

that is, lib/.... as well as lib64/.... ?

/usr/lib is bind-mounted to /usr/lib64, in other words, they contain the same thing. Delete stuff in /usr/lib64 and they will be deleted from /usr/lib too.
