project homepage http://windwm.sourceforge.net/
Wind is a window manager for the X Window System. It supports virtual desktops, optional Xft font rendering, and is pretty standards-compliant. It provides overlapping window management with click-to-type focus.
To use this wm you must modify your /root/.xinitrc file

Code: Select all

wind [ −v ] [ −n number ] [ −t font ] [ −f color ] [ −b color ] [ −F color ] [ −B color ] [ display ]
Options
−n number
Set initial number of virtual desktops. Zero means keep current setting, and is the default.
−t font Use font for window titles.
−f color
Use color as foreground.
−b color
Use color as background.
−F color
Use color as focused foreground.
−B color
Use color as focused background.
−v
Report X11 errors to standard error. This option is sometimes useful for debugging.

You might want to install fbpanel along with this wm. You can find it here along with the pet of wind.

tested and working with Racy, Precise puppies :)

Hi, ariel!

Thanks for this. For now I'd like to know:
  • what is the panel bar in the screenshot on the website? I like its simplicity. Is it part of the wind window manager?

Also, does the wind wm have an integrated menu builder or does the user have to rely on an external app?
Thanks in advance, and best wishes of success.

hi musher0

I don't know which panel it is, I'm sorry. I can only say that fspanel has something that looks similar but it is not the same.

wind comes with neither a panel nor a menu. That's why I have posted fbpanel along with it. but I may suggest also smenu posted here
