Is there a CVS repository of pdq patches/config files?

#1 Post by reed »

Is there any public CVS or other repository for patches and/or your custom
configuration files?

For example, I'd like to see if you have patches for your pdq. (And to see
if you use the gtk or gtk2 version of pdq.)

reed,
you sent me an email, yes?
-- I replied, but it bounced. Tried again, still bounced.
Error message was that it is undeliverable.
Okay, found it:
EDITED TO DISGUISE EMAIL ADDRESSES:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at qmail-wm-norm-0.netfirms.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

Giving up on 209.166.74.74.
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

Jeremy,
No CVS as yet, but we are currently setting up a SVN system, and learning
how to do it as we go along -- you can find more info on the forum.
But, it hasn't got anything on it yet.

I didn't even know there was a gtk2 version of pdq!
I setup the pdq stuff ages ago, and as I recall made some very small
changes to the dialog box messages. The modified source tarball (no
diffs) is in the Sourcerer CD, but I can post it to you.
Let me know if you want it and whether your email system will accept
a small .tar.gz attachment.

Regards,
Barry

Sorry, that was the mail server's greylisting.

Yes, I will accept a small .tar.gz attachment. It will be appreciated.

It may be easier for you in the long run (especially because of some this source code licensing) to have a download site containing all your source code patches and source code (like jwmconfig).

I have been using pdq for a couple years on various systems and someday I hope to merge in all the gtk2 support and various bug fixes into the official version. But now I am also researching other lightweight print spoolers, such as ppr and ulpr. pdq has not had maintenance for a couple years I think. One feature that appears to be lacking for pdq is printing multiple copies (ala lpr -#num).

Thanks. I download it. It has a different md5 sum than the original file with same filename.

But the contents are identical. No timestamps changed, no new files, and diff -pruN is empty. It seems like your modifications were not included in the tarball you provided here.

If you have any modifications, I'd be glad to review and merge into the upstream source for you. Please let me know.

A mailing list for pdq users and developers has been created. It is at the http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdq/ website. Also pdq has been imported into CVS there.

I was scratching my head, thinking I'm losing it...
then I remembered.

The change is in the binary tarball, that you can find at the puppy linux
download site on ibiblio.org.

What I changed was one or two messages, for example the file:
/etc/pdq/interfaces/local-port-1.0
-- that one was changed to give a popup message adding advice to enter
/dev/usb/lp0 for usb printer.

By the way, I'm glad that you are working on pdq again.
At the time that I was playing with it, there were many issues that I couldn't
properly resolve.

I forget most of them, but one I recall was to do with executing applications
from within the printer configuration file.
I will get back into it soon, pickup the threads where I left off before
-- which was back in 2003.
