Looks like a great base for Puppy builders.
Especially when Ubuntu is becoming a non-Linux distro.

Xen, Asterisk, all common codecs, and many of the latest apps.

Pemasu will be the first, I guess.

He's going to take an entirely different approach to building a puppy. This time, it will be a puppy built with the end-user in mind. A light/barebones/thin dpup Wheezy based on kernel 3.9 or newer. No bloat, no unneeded, unrequested stuff. So that the user himself can choose what to install in his puppy. New release, new kernel, new approach ... spring time. That's my hunch Smile

I think it's withSAP for R_pi, and perhaps also with Debian Wheezy for R-Pi...
Is that Flashplayer and Gnash won't work [won't play Youtube videos]. Sad

OpenELEC XBMC for R-Pi has no problem playing Youtube videos. Very Happy

Any chance of a Puppy based on Wheezy, for R-Pi that plays Youtube videos?

I think to play youtube on the Pi, you need some software that bypasses flash like the GTK Youtube application for puppy does.

The other issue is that the only way to get accelerated video on the Pi is to use their omxplayer.

If you look on the R. Pi message board, there was someone who figured out how to play youtube videos on omxplayer from the command line.

It is way beyond my ability, but someone could adapt the GTK Youtube app to use omxplayer instead of mplayer, then that ought to work.

anikin; It`d be nice if they embraced No-Install apps. like RoxApps.

Then Puppy`s Save file wouldn`t become polluted with apps. and libs.
So the Save file would only need to be 256 MB or less in size...
And the old apps. are easily replaced with new ones, just copy over.!

A small Puppy with just the bare utilities, all the apps. would be add-on.
Groups of apps. in one No-Install app. Browsers, office, games, etc.

The new Debian Wheezy is the perfect base to build these apps. from.

New record! Get your new Debian, you only have to download 10 DVDs!

(I have all from year 2000->up, and I have actually read all the program descriptions in wheezy, more than 30.000 programs. The new one has more that 37500 packages, so I guess I know how to spend my free time in the coming months...)

First test build using Debian 7.0 ( Wheezy ) packages now done and using it with this post. I wont upload test build yet. I fix things and update packages from my months old previous test build first. No major bugs compared to unstable stage builds has been found.
