I am not impressed. This thing is enormous. How long will it take to boot from a DVD, and can it save settings on the DVD, as multisession Puppy can?

Maybe they answer one of your questions here :)

f you have started Tails from a USB stick, you can create a persistent volume in the free space left on the USB stick by the Tails USB installer. The files in the persistent volume are saved and remain available across separate working sessions.

You can use this persistent volume to store different kinds of files:

your personal files and working documents
the software packages that you download and install in Tails
the configuration of the programs you use
your encryption keys

The persistent volume is an encrypted partition protected by a passphrase.

Once the persistent volume is created, you can choose to activate it or not each time you start Tails.
The use of a persistent volume in a system which is designed to provide anonymity and leave no trace is a complicated issue.
Read carefully the warning section.
They warn that it is complicated to makes use of ???
Storing Sensitive Documents

The persistent volume is not hidden. An attacker in possession of the USB stick can know that there is a persistent volume on it. Take into consideration that you can be forced or tricked to give out its passphrase.

Note also that secure deletion does not work as expected on USB sticks.
See the corresponding documentation. Read also how to delete the persistent volume.
yes 800 meg is way too big. Slax and Porteus and Puppy manages
very similar features on much less space.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

Me too. Puppy has no problem with display resolution but tails failed miserably on my machine.

Puppy is distributed with its files in a Squashed File System, ie. compressed which is expanded when loaded to what size?

So are the files in tails distributed in a compressed format?

Puppy's SFS file is normally under 120 megs compressed.
But what is it's size after it is expanded into a working file system?

Food for thought?
