No keyboard or mouse on Compaq Presario C700

Please keep in mind I'm a massive linux noob.

I downloaded puppy linux 5.5 4G for my laptop Compaq Presario C700 and burnt it to a DVD disc, upon booting into the OS I get the wizard screen for settings. At this point the mouse does not work and the keyboard does not work I also tried plugging in a usb mouse and it did not work either.

Both the keyboard and mouse are 100% functional and work fine in windows 7.

I searched the net for a long time and could not really find any solid info on this issue and other people with the same laptop seem to not have this issue.

I have also tried a USB version of the OS and still the same issue.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated as my only alternative at this point is to try another Linux distro.

The weirdest part is the keyboard works just find for F2 and F3 boot options but as soon as the GUI loads keyboard and mouse stop working.

Try booting with option:

Code: Select all

boot:puppy acpi=off pfix=us
This load us keyboard. Change "us" according to the desired keyboard. For a list of all boot options type F2 and F3 at the boot screen.
