How to stop Wary's trash bin from belching?

#1 Post by circularL7 »

Hey, all.

On Wary 5.5, how do I remove the belching when items are moved to the trash bin?

For the record, this issue is fixed in the Wary 5.5.1 service pack which is available here.

Your choice of phrasing interests me. May I ask: why do you call it an issue, and why is it considered fixed?

I called it an issue because many people (myself included) considered this sound byte to be in poor taste, and therefore a poor choice to associate with emptying the trash --whether it was an attempt at humor or not... I do not know.

WordWeb offers several definitions of the word "issue" including: An important question that is in dispute and must be settled

This is from Barry's Blog on March 10th, 2013
Service Pack for Wary/Racy 5.5
OK, here it is (49K):
http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/pet_pa ... _wary5.pet

It solves these problems:

Remaster live-CD fixed (see Setup menu).
Puppy Podcast Grabber was broken (see Internet menu).
Trash icon on desktop: drag file to it, changed sound from burp to 2barks.
Grub bootloader config (see System menu) was broken.
Web browser Puppy-home-page had a broken link.
Check permissions on /tmp when install a package.
Auto offer to install service_pack when available, was broken.
Note that this matter is not a typical bug in terms of an application being broken, or certain features of a program not working... So it is easily "fixed" or resolved. My use of the words "issue" and "fixed" are not designed to be contentious or to create controversy in any way. I am merely trying to provide helpful information, and I would sincerely hope that there are no major concerns with the semantics from my previous post.

That generously answers my questions; thank you.

This may seem naive, but the author must now understand that it isn't helpful; why hasn't he replaced that release rather than continue causing new users embarrassment?
