Interesting I will try that one.
10.35 PM now so I should go to bed
but will this the last thing I do and report back :)

First I tested with fpw2 not running
that gave the error that it could not find fpw2
sh-4.1# fpw2 | firefox https://login.live.com/
sh: fpw2: command not found

then I started fpw2 manually and did the terminal again
and it gave this

sh-4.1# fpw2 | firefox https://login.live.com/
sh: fpw2: command not found
NOTE: child process received `Goodbye', closing down
sh-4.1#

Okay so now I go to bed

I believe there was emphasis placed on the word eventually.. Run that cmd again and be PATIENT!

there is a typo, I think.
It should be:

Code: Select all

fpm | firefox https://login.live.com/
here that does two things:
- open fpm2
- open the login page

Cool you guys are at it.

here is what happens

sh-4.1# fpm | firefox https://login.live.com/

** (fpm:26608): WARNING **: Couldn't find pixmap file: logo.png
NOTE: child process received `Goodbye', closing down

And it start up the fpm and it start up FF
but the password for the fpm has to be added for it to work
but that is too late for teh script times out very fast within seconds.

So I don't trust it helps to be patient it has already said good bye.

So what is lacking in the script is to add the password for FPM

Or maybe it is possible to set it up so it does not ask for password?

If I start it up prior to the Terminal CLI code then it says
can not lock the process because already in use so that is logical indeed.

proebler I've seen you help many in the threads
that is much appreciated.

Semme don't tell me you did that on purpose for to check
if I get what the code means? That would not be nice of you :)

I tested to change to http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/
and nooby password and started up FPM
and the same happens. it start up FF but on the default Homepage
and not on http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/

If I manually change that page to http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/
then clicking on user and password does not put them in the empty fields.

Nooby- I don't care about errors or passwds.. ONLY that 'fpm | firefox https://login.live.com/' took you to MS.

AND you're doing this with fpm CLOSED.

The problem I see is that fpm isn't over-riding FF's homepage.

What's this do?

Code: Select all

firefox https://login.live.com/
With plugins disabled?

That seems logical yes but you still have to find a way
to add the global? password for FPM itself
and while it waits for that it times out so it is not just FPM

But don't you use FPM do you set the plugins to off for to use FPM?

Sure I can test it with plugins off but it does not help me with them on then?
But that will have to wait some hours I am running to store for food now.
And come back in an hour or so

Try'n forget about the user/passwd stuff for the moment and concentrate on FF.

Open 'about:config' and type: ipv6

If the value is 'false' >> set it true, close FF, then try this again:

Code: Select all

fpm | firefox https://login.live.com/
Does we still time out?

sh-4.1# sh-4.1# fpm | firefox https://login.live.com/
sh: sh-4.1#: command not found
NOTE: child process received `Goodbye', closing down
sh-4.1#

When I did that ipv6 it gives that result kind of odd result to me.

nooby,
I have done some testing.
When I am in Puppy Lupu 5.2.5 and run fpm2 from terminal, then I too get that warning about the missing logo.png.
However, the login window for fpm2 does not time out nor does it disappear as you describe it.
I can enter my password, no problem.
Don’t worry about that warning.
Of course if the login window does disappear, then you cannot enter your password.
Does this only happen when you use the terminal to run fpm2 ?
If so, then again dont’ worry, since it does not stop you from using fpm2 via the menu.
Running from terminal is for testing, so that you can follow semme's instructions.

FireFox will go to the default homepage if fpm2 Launcher Preferences lacks $a in

Code: Select all

firefox $a
Are you certain that you have that correct?
See the 2nd picture in semme’s 1st post.

So go ahead, enter your password , check that preference again.

PS. I have now changed to Slacko 5.3.1 and guess what, to run fpm2 from terminal, the command is fpm2 and there is no warning, logo.png is found and appears on the login window. Never a dull moment :)
And if you want to “fix

Because someone may NOT be compatible.. OK the safe-mode dialog:

Code: Select all

fpm2 | firefox -safe-mode https://login.live.com/
fpm's a shortcut to the real executable >> fpm2.

And yes- Proebler's right.. The cli for  testing.

If I do the paste of username and password manually
from clipboard to the singin field then it works
but that is more work than to all it manually in the first place.
The only feature would be to remember a very complicated PSW
that one have forgotten this way?

this is the first time the actual sign in page has worked.
So I have to test again to see if it was the safe command that did it

Second time I tested and third time it both failed to open the
signin.live.com sitepage

Guys this gives me severe headache so I need to take a big break
or else I will have this headache for days and can not do anything else
than lie on bed screaming sorry. So do as you feel motivated to
but I would prefer to get help with other things. This is not the important thing :)

I changed my email from one service to another So
I am not much motivated to care about Live.com
anymore but the fact is that even to use FPM2
to log in to Murga Puppy Forum did fail
it never transfer the username nor the password.

So if it can help others just go ahead but I will be rather passive.

Still have the bad headache. CLI is not what my brain can cope with. .

look behind FF, that's where the script is.

Can you buy Panadol in Sweden?
Hope your headache goes away :)

That it worked for you in safe-mode points to one of your add-ons.

I had absolutely zero trouble pasting both username and passwd.

==

Appending my opening post..

Settings >> launcher prefs >> add >> follow the screenshots, apply, close and hit the 'save' icon.

The user name field should have a *blinking cursor* after the login page loads. << NOT on Murga.

From here, hover the username field, rt-clk >> Paste!

TAB!

Hover the passwd field, rt-clk >> Paste!

*ENTER!*

If you're in- well Alle--luia!

Thanks to both of you.
To set the NoScript to Disable was dangerous.
It changed the set up to allow all scripts globally
when I reactivated it again after the test. Nasty!

Headache is a bit less severe today.

Yes proebler I should have mention that I know that :)

Semme what I failed at was this part.

hover the username field, rt-clk >> Paste!

but that is more work than to do it all manually
in the first place. It adds many moment that the manual way
does not include.

So that makes the FPM only good for to remember hard to remember PSW.

And those I can write down to copy and paste anyway.
So it is the cryptation maybe is a good feature.

If this part is always needed hover the username field, rt-clk >> Paste!
then FPM is not for me. I rather do it all manually much easier to do.

I will change the title to reflect my current understanding :)
