I know that there are two projects currently developed, LXPup and Pussy. Are there any more, and were there any successful builds in past?

You probably mean native package manager, because every Puppy can use with more or less success packages from its base distro, that is idea for Barry's woof

for native package manager support there is Sensei made by stifiling http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=85346

it uses pacman from Arch!

Slackbones (64 bit) comes with gslapt & slapt-get. You can also make SlackBuild packages & install with installpkg.
