Open /usr/share/desktop-directories using the Rox file manager

Edit each of the Mate-Puppy- desktop files to add a line for Danish
Name[da]=XXXX

e.g. for Mate-Puppy-Fun.directory

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Fun
Name[fr]=Jeux
Name[da]=XXXX
Icon=games24.png
Icon=applications-simulation
Type=Directory
How can I make an ISO or SFS(or other) from this so that someone else can get use of it?
The first thing to try would be the Puppy Remaster live-cd in the Setup menu - although I've never tried this myself.....

or you could make a pet of the files that you have edited.....

Cheers

Also please take a look here, for some strange reason I'm unable to post in that thread, so I can't invite Måns to join us here - maybe you can:

Hello peebee,
Thank you for your packages and for the quality of your work.
For my own use, I have slightly modified the interface of lx_icon_switcher and added gettext.
Cordialement,

Hi ASRI

I have included your improved gettexted GUI - many thanks - into the next versions of LxPup - I did however have to make 2 small changes - less important = the window title; more important = wrong exit code tested for on exit

The amended version is attached with false .gz

LxPup on Blue V6

#111 Post by Volhout »

Hi PeeBee,

Tried your LxPup pet for Blue_V6 (based on Quirky Tahr).
I noticed following problems on first glance:

- hotkeys "windows" and "menu" do not toggle between panels and desktop.
- hot sides left and right do not work
- desktop background in Chromium full screen (panels) different from background in LXDE
- LxPup has 2 desktops, where Blue only seems to have one ?
- Conky does not work

Maybe this is a bridge to far. ETP seems to have achieved a good integration between Chromium and JWM, that is not necessarily possible with LXDE.

Quirky-Unicorn pets

#112 Post by peebee »

The pets to add LxPup14.10 to Quirky-Unicorn can be downloaded from:

lxpup_quirky_unicorn-14.10.pet

lxpupsetup_quirky_unicorn-14.10.pet

They should be installed in the above order.

If you want to revert to JWM/Rox then use the PPM to uninstall the lxpupsetup pet.

Cheers
peebee

p.s. tested on the "live" install of Quirky-Unicorn

Hi step

Yes - should be ok - but I do now have later versions which I have ready to make LxTahrPup14.12. I've uploaded them:

lxpup-by-sfs_T.14.12.sfs

lxpupsetup-t.14.12.pet

First uninstall the .pet using the Package Manager
then
unload the .sfs using SFS-Load-on-the-fly

assuming you have a frugal install?
which .pet and .sfs did you install?
I have not updated this thread or the downloads for some time.....

Not working

#123 Post by pp4mnklinux »

Thanks a lot for your quick answer but...

There's NO pet at the package manager, so I cant find how to uninstall it.

I read somewhere that this package cant be unistalled, so I asked u to avoid a new full instalation (I have my puppy fully configured).

Ugh - full installs - never use them - frugal much more flexible with zero disadvantages!!

Just what DID you install????

You could try running:
lxpup-deactivate
in a terminal....but this will only be present if you've loaded the .pet....

Otherwise, drop out to console (logout) and type:
xwin jwm

you may then need to delete /usr/local/bin/rox and rename /usr/local/bin/Rox to /usr/local/bin/rox
to reinstate rox as the filemanager instead of pcmanfm

This is not guaranteed to work!!!
