Precise Puppy not loading

#1 Post by BLaZuRE »

I've tried this over 2 different systems, one using USB-ZIP and USB-HDD (shows as USB-HDD0). The other using USB in bios.

Under the MBR that was on my flash drive, I got

Code: Select all

Loading Operating System...
j
and on my laptop:

Code: Select all

j
.

After leaving them on for several minutes, nothing happens. There is no activity light on my USB except for right before that black load screen. I have a recent flash drive (USB 3.0 capable), a year-old desktop, and a 3 year-old laptop.

After switching to the suggested MBR (I think it was sys.mbr), I get "No Operating System Found" on both.

My flash drive is partitioned as:

4GB ext4 bootable (Puppy Linux)
10GB fat32 (Flash drive files)
Remaining space: Unused

I used the live CD to install it onto my flash drive. What could be the problem?[/code]

It sounds like the bootloader on your flash drive is incomplete.

From the System menu, run Grub4Dos Bootloader Config. Make sure that you choose the flash drive, NOT your hard drive as the target device.
