Gimageview (2014) and your videos : a clap and they play

Quote some opinions about Gimageview :
gimageview is a really nice image viewer that handles just about anything thrown at it. Including video. It can also do slideshows with images and video mixed which is why I like to use it at trade shows and family reunions and stuff. To my knowledge this possibly is the *only* linux app that does this. I've looked a lot and haven't found any others. Anyone who has used irfanview in windows and wished for it in linux can probably appreciate gimageview as a replacement for it.
Anyways this Image viewer is for Gtk but works fine on puppy 3.0.1
It Can even watch movies with xine-libs which just about everyone has, Plus take images from the movies, Kind of neat, In the menu it does say redhat etc, lol
But hey its small and works fine for viewing images, thumbnails
it works fine, only bad thing is sometimes is a bit slowincluded here for a 2.30mn video

Thanks for this recommendation. I've added to the wiki http://puppylinux.org/wikka/GImageView

I too was a fan of Irfanview.

I've found a package from the puppy4 repo that runs on Slacko 5.3.1
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... 2.27-1.pet

It seems to crash sometimes in when flicking through images.

How did you install and which version is it?

It looks like development has finished on it?

---

BTW there is a program that allows you to script a slideshow-

What is the "2009" version? Is it from https://github.com/ashie/gimageview/?
...gimageview-0.2.27-1.pet
It seems to crash sometimes in when flicking through images.
0.2.27 is from 2004 and a bunch of crashes are supposed to be fixed in the github version (and also the old patches some distros used to use).
To my knowledge this possibly is the *only* linux app that does this.
Another lightweight old GTK program that does this (if you have Mplayer) is called Pornview. It was renamed to "Proview" last time I saw it packaged for Puppy. That package was a static GTK1.2 build I think, but it can also be built with GTK2.

I'd like to compile the version from github, but the zip download has a configure.ac file instead of configure. Also it has no make.in files.

Don't how I can I compile this version?

top level ls from github (gimageview-master):

Code: Select all

ABOUT-NLS configure.ac gimageview.spec.in Makefile.am README
AUTHORS COPYING INSTALL NEWS src
autogen.sh doc lib plugins TODO
ChangeLog etc m4 po

top level ls from old sourgeforge version (gimageview-0.2.27):

Code: Select all

ABOUT-NLS config.sub gimageview.spec.in lib plugins
acconfig.h configure HACKING ltmain.sh po
aclocal.m4 configure.in INSTALL m4 README
AUTHORS COPYING install-sh Makefile.am src
autogen.sh depcomp intl Makefile.in TODO
ChangeLog doc intltool-extract.in missing
config.guess etc intltool-merge.in mkinstalldirs
config.h.in gimageview.spec intltool-update.in NEWS

Run `./autogen.sh` in that top level directory.
Just running `autoreconf` might also work ;)

There is a version in the Debian Lenny repos here which seems quite stable and seems to be the last Debian version.

PornView explorateur de vidéos et photos. D'une simplicité époustouflante ?
Sauf qu'il faut libxine sur les distros up to date (se trouve dans pup 214x), je l'ai : 349kb mais ne peux la joindre.

gimageview-0.3.0

gimageview-0.3.0-w5.pet compiled By our french Helper Medor works in Unicorn Puppy, It should work quite everywhere. Its's the newest version i think. PPM unicorn has much older. Medor est fort !
What is important for me is not so much the version, but what gimageview allows users to do. And it can do a lot
Once installed things begin. i would like to know more what people use gimagview for, and compare it with others graphics apps.
Gimageview should launch mplayer for Movies, does that work ? With unbuntu puppies, no. Because Mplayer deleted by our devs.
Beware of here above Pornview, not cause of its name, this tool is bugs.

No you cannot wash this baby. It's a Puppy washing machine, Too small drum (RAM). Unless you disable the baby to wash members and head separated.

version 1.6.4 from Salix Packages

@ Pelo :

Beware: Gtkimageview (1.6.4) is just a GTK2 widget » libgtkiamgeview.so.0.0.0 :!:
GtkImageView is a simple image viewer widget for GTK. Similar to the image viewer panes in gThumb or Eye of Gnome. It makes writing image viewing and editing applications easy.
The latest GImageView application is v0.3.0 ;)
Source: gimageview-0.3.0-svn-r1215.tar.xz
My pet: gimageview-0.3.0-w5.pet

Cheers,
Médor.
