Laptop: Toshiba Satellite
Processor: AMD Sempron SI-42
Memory: 2GB DDR2
HDD: 250GB
Video: ATI 3100
Yes I know this is bottom of barrel.......it works. Enough said.
My problem is I my video card, ATI Radeon 3100. I have been searching around in numerous chats and have found nothing that will help me ( 2 weeks of searching). I seem to be the only one with this card everyone one else has a ATI 5000 series better or Nvidea.
I have Linux Mint 14 kde and it is my only OS. I think I have a problem with my installed graphics card and Linuxs' X-Org.
(I am new to the Linux, and I don't know any programing language, I am starting to learn), but, I am not sure if Radeon is in conflict with X driver, and if there is a conflict how and or should I disable Radeon. I am assuming that the installed card drivers are disabled by default when I installed Linux OS?, and if not how do I make sure. The reason I ask is my laptop sometimes overheats and video or movies sometimes lag, and I think this is why. I have tested all my other hardware and memory and all is well.
