am not sure if I even would accept that somebody
gave me a MAC I would most likely refuse to use it.

Unless one can boot lupu or slacko frugal on it?

I'm pretty sure in that situation I'd resist the urge to install Linux, and sell it straight away. Unless it was old enough that it was only worth $100 or something.
